What is an showtime fighter???? pretty sure only Mayweather has a multi-fight deal with them. Can't think of anyone else in recent memory.

 

Yeah I think only Floyd has a locked contract with Showtime. Given Espinoza runs Showtime and that he used to be (probably still is) a Golden Boy employee, it's been automatically Golden Boy's network.

If Golden Boy can pick up some supplemental HBO money they'll happily take it, but they won't put any of their guys in major fights unless it's on Showtime. That's where the whole HBO/GB feud started. GB would have Alvarez & Broner fight showcase fights on HBO, but for bigger fights they moved them to Showtime. HBO was not accepting being used as a farm system to build up stars for their chief rivals.

 

All GBP fighters are Showtime fighters right now.
Just like all Top rank fighters are HBO's.
Fights that should happen but wont ate many like (hopkins vs kovalev) or Floyd vs Pac

That was a very different Showtime back then, additionally that was the catalyst for the Greenburg/Davis fallout at HBO.

I think in a year or two, the demand to see GGG against the increasingly popular guys like Canelo and Quillin will force them together.

 

The Better question to be asked is how can we as fans DEMAND to see our favorite fighters face off.
