Pacquiao knockdown in Rd 3 far more telling then knockout in Rd 6?

Looking back at Pac-Marquez 4, everyone remembers the knockout punch landed on Pac that knocked him out for the count in rd 6 and forgets his knockdown in rd 3 which for me as a Pac fan was far more worrying and telling as the Rios fight looms on saturday.

I'm still shocked when i see that overhand looping right knock Pac down in the 3rd round and his rather rubbery legs as he got up. It looked a pretty innocuous and weak punch, certainly not the kind of punch that would normally trouble someone like Pac, who has shown himself to have a very solid chin for the last 10 years so i knew something wasn't the same with him from that point onwards.

The 6th round knockout was one of those "once in a million" punches landed just at the right spot made all the more deadly having Pac rushing in and helping the power generated from the punch. Any Welterweight in History would have been knocked down and out by that punch had it landed in the circumstances.

There is no doubt Rios will land a few bombs on Pacs chin, the question is whether his chin will hold up to them.

    Thoughts?

It was telling in that Marquez was on steroids. Heredia has expertise in one thing only and it is not being a "strength and conditioning" coach.

I agree that people should pay more attention to that early knockdown. The knockout completely overshadowed it, but it was an important moment -- the first time that Marquez has ever knocked Pac down.

    I disagree with this though:

Watch it again. Marquez leans forward and puts all his weight into a big overhand right. It looked like a powerful, clubbing shot. It didn't land as flush as the KO shot, but it still looked pretty solid. I was still surprised that it seemed to genuinely stun Pac, though. This is a guy that took some powerful shots to the head from Cotto, and Marquez has never troubled Pac with his power like he did in the last fight.

Seems that *******s still haven't recovered from KTFO6. Even Pac has moved on.

And for those keeping score, JMM made Pac do the chicken dance in an earlier fight.

The thing is though he was hit by those kind of punches in their previous 3 fights and was never knocked down, sure he was buzzed a few times especially in the 2nd fight but that punch not only knocked him down but had him dazed too.

Just seemed like Marquez suddenly hit alot harder then he did in the previous 3 fights and the extra power just caught Pac by surprise.

How Marquez suddenly became a bigger puncher at 40 years old is still a mystery!

Juan loaded up on that punch and Manny didnt block it at all, plus it was on the temple. You must think pac is superman.

Its Not like Juan hasnt hurt pac in every fight they had

jmm didnt appear to be a bigger puncher at 40 against both fedchenko or bradley

both the knockdown and knockout are troublesome as paq hasnt been hurt(possibly the margo body shot which is questionable) or knocked down in a fight in a very long time and fighting guys like cotto, jmm 3, margo, bradley and clottey

When any prizefighter who lands a perfect punch on another fighter around the same body mass, a knockout can occur, no one is invincible and anyone can be knocked out if the punch lands perfectly.

Juan hurt him in every fight. Cotto hurt him also. Bradley isnt a pucher an clottey didnt punch.

I think Pac was more in shock at being knocked down, he looked clearly surprised but I like how he responded in the further rounds but his confidence didnt waver. Shame Pac didnt just step back and the let the 6th end.. he was pushing the attack but if he had just stood his ground for the last few seconds and wait for the 7th, he may have avoided getting ktfo

JMM has landed plenty of those shots from the 3rd round in the last 3 fights, not one came close to knocking Pac down. The only difference between that punch landed in the 4th fight, and those in the last 3 fights, is Heredia. All through camp team JMM kept bragging about their new found power, Ariza even joked about JMM's new power knocking down the wall where the speed bag was held.

Could be JMM's new power, could be Pac's chin finally cracking after 15 years of brutal wars. I'm leaning towards the former.
