The Gentleman Prizefighter ..

This is the documentary on James J. Corbett for which I was interviewed.

 

The Corbett documentary, The Gentleman Prizefighter, is getting a theatrical screening in New York on December 7 at the SVA Theatre 333 West 23rd St.

Anyone planning to attend this film festival? I recently relocated to NY and might make the trek just to see the Corbett film.

 

Its a good film if you havent seen it.

 

What's so gentlemanly about a bitter racist?

 

Dunno, but people seem to like Muhammad Ali regardless.

 

Good point.

I generally adjust my sensitivities for the time but Corbett seemed like a real *****... not only to his black contemporaries but to Fitz and others. I dunno, put a top hat on him and I guess that makes him a gentleman.

 

Seen the Irish premier in Galway some time back, pretty interesting and accurate.
