I am going with a Froch stoppage in the later rounds. I don't think Groves has the chin strap to handle Froch's punches. KO 10 or 11
Groves only chance is to keep at range jabbing and outboxing carl. The thing is though, that wont happen. Carl will close the gap, fire them shots and grove with his brittle chin will go down and his inexperience will ensure he gets knocked out
The build up and hype, especially before a PPV event, lends itself to giving the underdog more of a chance than what you initially thought when the fight was made. Never liked Froch, his whole persona has stunk for me from day one... but he will win this fight and its very likely the ref will have to step in to save Groves from a pasting. Hope is I am very wrong.
Heart says Groves, Head says Froch. I've always backed Groves, but I just see Froch getting to him at some point. Groves will have some success early, I think he'll be up on the cards, until Froch finally gets to him. Its soon for Groves IMO. Froch is a different monster to anyone Groves has ever fought. Froch in about 7.
Groves reckons he's going to tell Froch exactly how he's going to fight him at the press conference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSbsJcl09Zk
I'm going to actually say that given all the pertinent circumstances leading into this weekend's action, Groves over Froch would be a bigger upset than Rios over Pacquiao. :think
Um, and Groves has proven able to do that at what level, again? One boxer has ever troubled Froch enough with elusive boxing on the back-foot enough to beat him, and that happens to be the pound for pound number two boxer in the world today... Is Groves on that level? :huh
Often getting the better? From what I've heard Groves is the only man to hit the deck in those sessions... Anyway, I'm not sure Groves - whom I like, btw, and who is quite good by domestic standards and can probably become Euro champ and reig unopposed for some time - is even up there with a Dirrell or fading but still not all the way done JT.
Groves got a nice jab and good movement. Not only is he younger, I think he's got better stamina than Froch. Look at the Kessler fight. Froch was taking rounds off...he can't fight at the fast pace anymore. The first half of the fight, Froch will have the advantage. That's the best time to get Groves out. If he can't, Groves will have the advantage in the 2nd half. I can see Groves outboxing Froch to an 8-4 decision. That jab will pose some issues for Froch.
Who the hell pushed Groves and tested his stamina like Kessler pushed and tested Froch's? ...and how is Groves supposed to have the advantage in the 2nd half when everyone picking him agrees he is going to be jabbing on the back-foot? That doesn't exactly sound like forcing a fast pace and tuckering Froch out...
