Do you honestly think people would shell out hard out money to watch Oscar fight Forbes if this farce was on PPV....No fighter will do over a 1,000,000 fighting Steve Forbes, especially a part-time fighter coming of a lost
i didn't say they will, you still haven't answered my question, its ok i'll let you use wikipedia:good
I agree that Floyd is a bigger draw than Cotto. That seems pretty obvious. However, this post is just wrong in some cases. Floyd was NOT the main event at Wrestlemania 24. He was sandwitched between the two title fights, which although pretty high up the card does not make it the main event. For that matter matches preceeding the actual main event are often of a gimmick variety. This is of course not to say that his participation did not generate him new fans (or 'haters') while benifiting the WWE as well. But to imply that Floyd got them their numbers is a tad absurd. Anyhow, Floyd is probably the number two draw in boxing behind Oscar. Although Oscar is probably fading and needs Mayweather and other big names as much as they need him at this point. If Cotto can get a fight with Oscar or Mayweather I suspect he will become a bigger draw, weither he becomes as big as Mayweather remains to be seen. edit. Found this on a press release for Wrestlemania 24, "ORLANDO, Fla., March 30, 2008 – Champions were crowned, the legendary Ric Flair was forced to retire, boxer Floyd Mayweather prevailed, and Undertaker extended his undefeated streak as World Wrestling Entertainment® set both attendance and ticket sale records at WrestleMania XXIV tonight at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando. WWE® grossed more than $5.85 million in ticket sales, making it the highest grossing live event in WWE history and in the history of the Citrus Bowl. WWE set an attendance record for the Citrus Bowl with 74,635 fans from all 50 states, five Canadian provinces and 21 countries invading Orlando, pumping up to $30 million into the local economy. The WWE’s annual pay-per-view, pop culture extravaganza is televised to more than 100 countries." I don't know if I'm reading that right, but it seems to me that it wasn't their biggest PPV ever, just live attendance record for the Citrus Bowl and was the largest gate in WWE history. Wrestlemania 3 actually had considerably more people attend but ticket prices were much lower which explains that. You have to remember the WWE is basically run by a person with the business style similar to Don King. Basically a promoter gone wild with his own sactioning body really. Almost nothing the WWE says about itself should be taken at face value.
don't know, then again he's not allowed to fight a Forbes or Lazcano so it hard to say. but if he did Im pretty sure it wouldn't too many people want to see him lose or get bruised
You right, at this time last year Oscar was the bigger name...But with the help of the 24/7 series which he made worth watching, dancing with the stars, and his recent stint in wrestling, the man has made himself into a star in his own right I bet you now the purse will be 50/50:yep
By fan base I asume you mean people who root for them. In that case I would assume that Cotto has more fans. I do think a lot of people watch Mayweather because they apricate his abilities and or want to see if he is going to get beat but I don't think he has as many "fans" as Cotto.
let me tell there is buzz about cotto "pretty boy ducking him" ****. cotto has passport fans ffloyd has anyone with more then 2 brain cells saying ffloyd p4p. and i tink more and more people seeing that ffloyd sells the bad guy stuff and they begining to like that bout him
