Cotto is in China as we speak -invited by Bob Arum and Top Rank execs.I expect an announcement shortly of Cotto-Martinez.
    Cotto can fight Canelo anytime.:deal

Canelo is an overhyped Mehicano that got his We Be Chicano belt from a bloated Matt Hatton and then had a close tough could've gone either way fight with Trout and then fought bums like Alfonso Gomez and then beat up a former 140lb Josesito Lopez and then got school by Mayweather.

I wonder what Sergio's take would be?

I love that TR is driving up Cotto's market value, Schaffer probably sees that as Bob dipping into Richard's pockets.

Cotto lost to Trout and he beat a bum in Rodriguez in his last 2 fights. Canelo lost to Mayweather and is overrated. Martinez lost to Murray and got a hometown decision. None of these fights would sell.

It just depends on Sergio's health and movement. It he was close to being what he was 4 years ago, Miguel, would not stand much of a chance.

a win over either of these fighters would cement cotto's legacy.

I have to admit Im a bit ignorant on this, I don't get why Bob would pay Cotto so much, just to make Cotto vs Martinez?

Hes not with Martinez, so him paying Cotto sooooo much, would be based on him thinking/hoping that Cotto/Martinez does huge numbers?

Or is he signing Cotto for the other fights he can make with Cotto?

I guess Im just not seeing the incentive for Bob to pay Cotto so much.

    Cotto vs Bradley
    Cotto vs Pac 2
    Cotto vs Rios/Alvarado

those fights make more sense on why Arum would want Cotto back so much....

But that would be the only reason Id see for TR to snatch Cotto up, and that all comes with the hope that Cotto returns to welter.

As it is right now, doesn't make sense that TR would pay so much just to make Cotto vs Martinez.

If cotto get 12 million to fight Martinez, arum will lose a shitload of money on the event.

That could happen if Martinez doesn't get a purse and we get another garbage Top Rank Under card like this weekend.
