Froch got old overnight then?

He did look really slow and lazy but I think Groves' class played a part in that. He was beating Froch to every punch and caught him with that right hand all night. I've said it in other topics, Froch was saved by his chin and the ref.

 

No he was just confronted by a good, young, hungry boxer who was stylewise all wrong for him and can punch.

Remember Carl is a pretty rubbish boxer - he got to where he is through guts, fight, a good engine and a good chin. It's not hard to make Froch look like an amateur

 

Somebody just said to me Froch might have a decider with Kessler and retire... I do not think after tonight and the next few days of the public abuse he will have much choice but to give Groves a rematch. Froch's ego will not cope well with the next few days.

Looking at those scorecards it is hard to see what Groves will have to do to get a decision in a rematch except KO Froch.

Froch made alot of noise about a Andre Ward rematch but seems to have cooled on that idea. Groves didn't run, he took it to Froch and Froch looked clueless for large parts of that fight and you may be right, maybe those wars are starting to catch up with him.

 

What's great about this is that Froch trades heavily on his warrior image and therefore he'll feel compelled to give Groves a re-match. In the cold light of day when he watches it back he'll want nothing else to do with Groves. His 'legacy' would then be (in part) as the man who got exposed and lucky against Groves and then retired instead of giving Groves his derserved re-match. He's in a tight spot here!! lol

Froch said pre fight, best shape of his career.

He was schooled and has always been slow.

 

He's not a top echelon boxer, just a granite hard tough *******, terminator, you've got to be on yer A game 3min x 12, one second lapse and he's on yer. Very bad stoppage, it's a corrupt sad joke over here IMHO, I'm sick of the universal excuse always being trumpeted, better to soon/To late ect, I obviously know that it's the sensible & correct thing to do when employed with discretion by sensible people.....BUT! No, Froch has always been a slow, technically limited slugger. Good movement has always been his krytonite. If that fight had been in the States, Froch also would have been deducted multiple points for persistent fouling.

 

No not old just exposed once again badly, Froch cannot fight well against guys with good movement, i mean Ward, Dirrell and Groves have all IMO outboxed him Froch is great against a certain type of fighter but he can certainly be beaten by quality boxers with spped, Carl is slow and has poor footwork

Same Froch as always. He's always been slow. It's always been possible for a good, quick boxer with good movement to outbox him. He's always been bailed out by his chin. Always been a warrior who can come back from adversity. This was very similar to the Taylor fight. Froch isn't done, he just was never all that great to begin with and Groves is pretty good.

 

He gave the upcomer a shot when he didn't have to, Calzaghe and Collins didn't. His legacy is made before this fight. Secondly he will rematch Groves,

 

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out he did get a concussion from that. He seemed to be going round in circles in the post fight interview and didn't even remember the knockdown until it was brought up by Hearn.

 

For that alone I'm hopeful he retires.
