Great performance by Groves, But did anybody think...

I thought Groves was awesome, however I also think the hard fights Froch has had have finally caught up on him.

 

Bar the Kessler fights, he hasn't had any wars!

Clearly you didnt watch the Dirrell, Taylor, Ward and Pascal fights and Johnson was a hard fight too.

 

My bad, Pascal was a war.

Dirrell was NOTa war - I was at that one.

Taylor? Not really, more outclassed.

Johnson fight wasn't a war.

 

Froch has always had problems with boxers/movers but I do think he looked a bit more sluggish than usual.

 

Froch's conditioning got him through last night & I mean that as testament to Groves performance.

Age catches up with all of us & 36 year old fighters with a attritional style more so.

 

speed kills. Froch has always held his left hand low but last night he was in with a very quick fighter who was facing a fighter who has slowed down.

 

The moment the fight turned in round 9 is the moment groves should have used his brain and finished froch putting him to sleep...seriously. Froch was going all out - like he does - putting everything into his punches, loading up and throwing them from the back of the arena.... Basically you could see him telegraphing hos punches from a mile.

The one that hurt groves initially should never have landed... If groves remained cool and smart... Countering those punches from froch.... It would have been bed time for froch. We need to see a gif of froch loading up.... Its ridiculous that groves got caught with it.

Groves had a good gameplan but he needed to be a bit smarter and brawl less, especially late on and when froch is going to be swinging and hoping desperately. Groves should never have given an opportunity to the corrupt ref to do what he did

 

That overhand Froch was loading up was truly hilarious. It succeeded because Groves was nearly done, simple as that. What a fight though.

 

Groves beats Froch even at his peak. Styles make fights and George is all wrong for Froch.

 

Did Froch have a back injury that forced him to leave that dancing show?

 

How many 36 year old Super Middleweight World Champions have there been? Not that many I'd wager.

 

I think a very good Groves fought a poor version of Froch. I think Groves has the right style to give a on form Froch fits but I do think Froch did have Groves in serious trouble and with a minute and half to go would have stopped him but we will never know now. I feel sorry for both of them to be honest, I think Froch was robbed just as equally as Groves. If Froch had stopped Groves it would have been a tremendous come back victory.
