    Great fight.

I must admit i am neither groves or froch fan but here is my take on what happened.

    1. groves what confidence to tell froch exactly what he was going to do on thursday and he kept his word and did exactly that! the jab, right hand was a peach!:thumbsup

He was buzzing carl all night and was comfortably winning, what fight robert mckraken and especially froch thought they were in i never know.

    2. I am suspicious why foster was chosen, but it makes sense. he was always going to give benefit to the cashcow of Matchroom. If groves was down in the first round i am convinced he might of stopped the fight. Groves was maybe buzzed but if you look carl didn't hit many clean punches to groves. Another eddie hearn match fix by choosing a ref who will stop the fight. Thanks you corrupt organisation -Matchroom

    3. Why oh why was froch allowed to keep punching when the ref said break? he did it more then 3 times and no point taken. See my response above the Ref again wanted to remain on te good side of Matchroom.

    4. I said in the round 8 that the ref at a slightest wobble from groves will give groves a count to level the fight. You could see he was concerned froch seemed bewildered with groves boxing. Any chance to help froch and even the game he would. Hence why no point deductions for froch.

    5. Bad sportsman ship by froch not shaking hands and only doing it when others told him ppl are boo'ing him. what a dickhead.

    6. Froch has aged overnight it seemed but it was more down to groves just being better than him. It must play on frochs mind how good groves is and he cannot compete with him if they have a rematch. The danager for him is that HE COULD BE KO'ed by groves!!!!

    7. froch i am convinced and more importantly Robert Mac, realised he took a lot of shots in this fight and got knocked down. he looked slow, no real tactics and just made himself look ponderous. Froch got schoolded and he can forget fighting Ward. I afraid to say he looks he doesnt have much left.:-((

I agree with some of your points but you have to admit round 7,8,9 froch was coming back in it and groves was becoming less effective.

Froch did look slow in there and he was getting caught with a lot of punches, so that would be a concern. But at the end of the day Froch has never had great boxing skills, its his chin, heart and heavy shots that have got him to where he is.

If i was him I would retire, lets face it he aint going to get any better, but groves will

I don't know about that to be honest mate - isn't it the case that Froch was so poor in the earlier rounds that when he had some success in the later rounds, people construed that as a 'momentum' change? I'm not entirely convinced.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from memory even in the preceding rounds Groves was still landing the better work, albeit taken a few more from Froch than he did earlier?

Agree 7,8 were frochs or groves but the clean punching was from Groves so its what your looking for i guess. But if you access the round as a whole it was Groves dictating the tempo/exchanges and having the cleaner punches. Froch NEVER dominated a round! it was groves who was on top. Froches rushing in with low arm punches never connected clean but the momentum of him running in behind the punches made the punches seem more hurtful then they were.

I agree Westy78, froch should forget a rematch as i fear this time he get KOed the first time or TKO'ed in his career -and deep down robert Mckraken/carl froch probably know the risk is to great. Groves is the real deal and they need to avoid him.

I feel for Groves, but think people are writing Froch off. Groves got off to a fantastic start and landed his best punch absolutely flush. I think it took a lot out of Carl. In think if there is a rematch it could be different , despite a horror start Carl was wearing him down. Imagine if he just has an average start.

Also people seem to think a stoppage was a foregone conclusion if the ref allowed the bout to continue - I just don't see that personally.

Wearing him down? I don't think so mate - there just isn't really any evidence for that: he was trying to clinch, but he was doing that the whole fight when Froch came in close; are people construing some Froch success as a momentum change? I think they are; Groves was still fighting back and landing the much better work.

Have to say something happened last night.

Groves turned babyface and Froch turned heel. If a rematch is made it will be so different in the sense I now think people will be rooting for groves and wanting to see Froch lose.

The torch as been passed and Eddy Hearn knows it. As a promoter he and sky will do whatever it takes to get the rematch and have Groves become the new star.

Froch's post fight interview was a disgrace and I for one want to see Groves KO him. I respect Froch but he was treating Groves like a bad schoolboy after Groves just schooled him in the ring!!

Observations from watching the fight last night.

    1. What a man Groves is. Booed coming in, cheered at the end. (fans seem to like Groves, I saw a similar thing in the DeGale fight)
    2. Was winning the fight by at least 4 rounds IMO at the time of the stoppage. (1 round on two cards for the judges was it?)
    3. Froch hardly hit Groves in some rounds, Groves landing the much clearer work. Looked flashy and moved well.
    4. Arguably should have been a first round KO for Groves. (Why not ref?)
    5. Froch hitting after the bell on a few occasions and when the ref jumped in?
    6. Everyone watching with me, dozens, wanted Groves to win.
    7. Majority of people watching disgusted by the outcome.
    8. Despite a schooling, (and it was a hell of a schooling at times) Froch would not admit to it.
    9. Groves could well have been stopped in that round, or the next but it was a weird stoppage. I've seen fighters taking a battering and not being stopped.
    10. Froch has a great chin.
    11. Groves can really box and punch. He is the real deal.
    12. Despite Groves "losing" his stock has risen greatly.
    13. What do the punch stats suggest\Prove?
    14. A rematch might not live up to the first fight, but it would be a huge event. A big event with big purses.
    15. Groves should move up the rankings.
    16. Despite what happened, (perhaps\maybe\even probably Groves would have been hurt later if the fight was not stopped) the fight was excellent, it had a bit of everything. One of the best fights I've seen in a while.
    17. I don't know if we should have an immediate rematch, or whether Groves should go down the WBC\WBO route, I'm sure after that performance they could get the other champions (financial backing etc)to the UK to fight him now.

    :good

I can't remember what round it was, maybe the 5th, but Froch was opening his mouth, like his jaw was in serious pain. Groves put Froch in some serious pain

Groves was absolutely brilliant last night. If adam booth was in his corner, which i 100% think he will be in any rematch, he would have won that fight easily last night. He would have told groves not to get excited and get involved in a macho slugfest, box your way to a UD.

To be fair, Groves boxing to a UD just wouldn't have happened. If two of those ****ing idiots had it 76-75 they would have found a way to **** Groves.
