In the punch resistance department anyway. Calzaghe had had a lot of hard fights shrugged off bombs but his chin wasn't the same in his last 2 fights. Unlike Froch he could box without a great chin. Anyway Groves was robbed and Froch isn't the same. He has been given another gift by officials and will continue to get unjust hype but many opened their eyes.
The punch Hopkins hit Calzaghe with had little on it. I'm not saying it is all down to Kessler but age and prior wear and tear and then a hard fight like that can take it out of a fighter. Calzaghe beat Kessler more clearly than Froch did but he still took some big shots.
Calzaghe was more hurt against Mitchell and Salem than he was against Hopkins. Froch was badly shaken in the 11th by Kessler. In my opinion, there is no improvement in Froch. All his old flaws are still there.
All his old flaws are there and he has been hurt in the past but he does look weaker now, maybe it was Groves though. Either way Groves was robbed.
Froch has improved but Groves took away the things he's gotten better at (especially the jab which he just couldn't find a way to use).
