groves was out on his feet, just about to go down. should of been given a standing count at least. groves could of beat froch but from the 7th he started trying to trade blows instead of box, this unltimatley cost him the win.

**** stoppage the ref robbed everyone of a great ending to a dramatic fight, and now he has ruined groves unbeaten record. I feel sorry for groves.

Froch was hurt much more than Groves. Froch's referee was a disgrace. There should be a rematch ordered ASAP. Groves will knock Froch out! Golovkin would have knocked Froch out easily...........

I am so tired of crooked referees, judges, boxing commissions and commentators!

George said he was more off balance because of Carls momentum coming forward than his punches,I don't buy it I do believe he was staggered from the punches but the ref jumped in way to early.Stoppage was an absolute disgrace,if anyone should have been stopped it was Carl Froch in the first round when he was nearly knocked unconscious.

**** stoppage, but Groves interview is almost as bad as Frochs.
There were three or four flush shots landed in the last exchange, and Groves was struggling, Groves said he wasn't hurt and only got hit with one shot.

To be honest that's what I saw, I thought Groves was on his way down his legs has gone a few secodns earlier and his arms were just hanging limp when the ref grabbed him. Groves was off balance, moving away from froch with his back turned and not in a postion to defend himself.

**** you, **** the ref, and **** anyone who thinks this was a legit stoppage in any way. Groves was not out on his feet. He had his hands up to block shots and was moving away from Froch to buy some time in order to recover. He was shook up and dizzy, but still had his legs beneath him, and was better off than Froch was during several points in the fight.

Groves was winning the fight by a huge margin and hadn't even been down once in the fight. He deserved a chance to continue and try to mount a comeback... it's absolutely undeniable. It's one of the worst stoppages I've ever witnessed and it turns my stomach no matter how many times I watch it -- from this angle or any other. The ref should never be allowed to work again in the sport of boxing, and should be very ashamed of himself because he robbed George Groves unfairly of a chance to win the fight of his life, he robbed Carl Froch of a chance to score a legit KO and an amazing comeback, and he robbed the fans of a proper conclusion to one of the best fights I've ever seen in my life.

****ing disgraceful stoppage... if every fight was refereed by this man then I would not watch boxing. It would be a piece of **** sport without any of the drama that we all know and love. There wouldn't even be knockdowns at all anymore. The first time anyone gets buzzed at all the fight's over. What a ****ing joke. **** you.

Kessler made sure he never made the epic mistake of Bute, unfortunately Groves made the same mistake

when hurt = do not sit on them ropes.

As soon as groves allowed Froch to plant those feet, I knew it was curtains.

Lets say he had no energy in his legs…He was better doing what Bute tried - a lot of upper body movement, but nope he swung wildly getting tagged over and over again. Froch plants his feet for 2 reasons,

    1. obviously he generates so much power in his attacks.
    2. he truly believes there’s not a super middle in the world that can drop him whilst his feet are planted in that wide stance.

So when froch plants his feet you spin off them ropes like Kessler did (so well) in their 2nd fight

Could the ref have let it go on yes, do we all know what would have happened … yes

Its all in the video, the boy is pretty much out on his feet. If the ref wasn’t there he would have just fallen across the ring into the other ropes where Froch would have planted his feet again and teed off on him again.

Groves was brilliant on Saturday… but as I have said before, the fight was what everyone expected. Groves early but Froch to come on late and win by stoppage.

Groves was obviously in trouble and should have taken a knee. He was lacking the experience to weather a storm like this and lost the fight fair and square. "Protect yourself at all times". The ref may have taken him out 10 seconds too early but he can't be blamed for that -- Groves allowed this situation to develop so the blame is squarely on him.
