or hurt and not wanting to exchange, foster must of thrown groves into them ropes on the opposite side of the ring from where he stepped in his body sagged limp like , carl would have still been dishing it out on him what was groves going to do with his back turned :huh
his stanima was not great against anderson :bart niether was his chin , them questions on groves were already there wheather you noticed it or not makes no differance

He threw a couple of punches two seconds before the ref grabbed him so obviousl still wanted to exchange. He was clearly off balance and stumbled a bit.

No he was slightly hurt and still off balance but not hurt enough to warrant a stoppage. Hence everyone thinking it was a premature stoppage.

He would have turned and faced Froch or Froch would have hit him in the back and got point taken or DQ'd if he had his back turned.

Irrelevant as his chin and stamina were fine in this fight.

if the fighter turns away from the fight what is the attacking fighter suppose to do sit idown in the middle of the ring and wait till he as recovered and turns back round ready to exchange again , groves turned away if froch then hit him it lies with the fighter who turned away from fighting in a fight .
by your way of thinking when your hurt just turn your back and your protected by the ref and rules untill you have recovered and ready to carry on there aint no time outs in boxing like there is in basket ball

Groves won rounds 1-7 with a knockdown in there too, great display for him and im sad to see it end in another soft stoppage BUT you can't deny, Groves was looking shook himself in that last round, he was gassing pretty quickly. Rematch please!

The attacking fighter needs to move into a position where he can land a scoring punch or wait for the opponent to face him/or the ref to make him face his opponent. If someone repeatedly turns away the ref will wave it off but if it happens once or twice by accident the ref will just warn them, we've all seen it. Have you ever seen somebody momentarily turn away by accident because off balance etc, get punched in the back and it be ruled a legal KO?

This is all true but you can't deny that stoppage was premature and most refs wouldn't have stopped it at that point.

We can all speculate about what would have happened if Carls personal ref hadn't stopped it

What we do know for sure is Froch was nearly knocked out in the first round, much more hurt than Groves ever was and saved by the bell. He was then schooled and embarrassed for the rest of the fight until the disgraceful stoppage. Who's the real winner here when Frochs stock has dropped hard and GGs just rocketed?

    Groves EVT9 Froch

    take a look http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0sLuKJ-elQ
and a fighter should never turn his back if he does and gets badly hurt there is only him to blame the other fighter should not have to make a change or wait as you say for the fellow fighters incompetencies ,
groves will have been told this as a kid when he first started to box

The only reason Groves ended up bent over and off balance like that was because at the end of the sequence Froch pulled him off balance from behind the head. It was even a punch that send him towards the ref.

That vid proves nothing. That guy was clearly unconscious. Groves was not. Of course boxers shouldn't turn their back but sometimes accidents happens. Plus look at the vid in the OP. Groves doesn't even turn his back. Pause at 3 seconds - Groves' back is not turned. Pause at 4 seconds - The ref has grabbed him. Tell me where to pause it where Groves' back is turned and the ref hasn't already grabbed him.

Did anyone else notice after the ref let him go, he fell onto the ropes and dropped to one knee? Got to make it clear, the stoppage was bollocksÂ…but all there? he clearly wasn't.

he was gone, but I would have preferred it going on maybe a few seconds longer as is traditional. I dunno though he looked ****.

shame, groves had fought the perfect fight, proved he was faster and more accurate and a better boxer. just failed to prove he had the chin and stamina.
