wtf, Froch doesn't duck fights. He'd rather lose his title. there is no evidence to suggest he ducks opponents at all. but he was clearly intimidated and outboxed until he started tearing in willy-nilly in round 9. Groves would have won that had he danced away and gone for points. He lost it because he wanted to tear-up.
rematch will tell all. but it was a poor ref stoppage. robbed is a strong word for a man who cant stand up.
No, he doesnt duck fights. But he has never been in a position to duck fights. He fought in the Super Six, that made him a name, nobody he could duck there, after that it was Bute (Where he admitted that he would have retired if he would have lost, so basically he had nothing to lose and Kessler, who would earn him a lot of dough cause of PPV) now that he is an "International Superstar" and the guy on PPV etc he is in a position to duck fights.
wasnt he carrying a title in the s6? something to lose for sure. nor has he ducked anyone since regaining the title. well, Nathan cleverly? guy was less than domestic, and by that I don't mean he poops in the living room.
At no point do you HEADLOCK a fighter, that also let Froch get some body shots in. Froch was hurt throughout the entire fight.
He was carrying a title but he had no television partner (Was fighting on ITV, but they didnt pay that much + have not shown boxing since the Pascal-fight) and wasnt making the money he is making now. Watch videos of him being pissed at Amir Khan for fighting on Sky Box Office. People forget that his first few fight including the first Kessler were on Primetime. The Super Six was a no brainer for him, He was 32, was 10 second from losing against Taylor. The Super Six guaranteed him future paychecks.
I am going on the evidence. and that is that he doesn't duck, period. Till there is evidence to the contrary, I go with that. Go find your evidence.
beautiful knock down! groves appeared to do exactly what i thought he would to froch. he's much too skilled for froch and his robotic style. seems froch always needs the help of refs and officials to get his 'victories' in front of his home town crowd. the stoppage was ridiculous.
what was that all about!? the ref seemed as if he was pissed at groves. he stops the fight by head locking the "hurt" guy??? smh. the british officials are some of the worst in boxing.
What I was quite surprised about was in the post fight press conference Froch's trainer acknowledged that he and Froch knew that Groves' style was going to cause them problems and discussed whether they should take the fight or not. I think Froch was under no illusions Groves was a dangerous fight and Groves pushed all the buttons pre fight to wind him up like we've never seen. I don't think it ever crossed Froch's mind though that Groves would be able to put such a beating on him for the first 6 rounds like he did but hats off to him for slowly composing himself and turning the fight around.
