Why, with the talent level somehow improve?

 

What era showed less overall skills and the top contenaders fighting each other so infrequently?

 

The skill level in the 80's was FAR better. Combination and body punching, better movement and defense, better stamina. When i get home i will easily prove this argument through video. The problem with the 80's is it was plagued by drug abuse.

The 80s had skill levels you don't see today. The standard in todays era is a joke.

 

No, Im comparing heavyweights to heavyweights. But lets talk about learned skills since you brought it up. What learned skills do heavyweights do better today than in the 80's? They don't show overall better defensive techniques such as slipping and parrying punches. They don't throw as many combinations or feint as much. They don't use the ring or move their heads as much. They're bigger, slower, and more out of shape...that's it.

 

Umm, being exposed after 64 fights and almost a decade of being a champ. Thats something new. Oh, and in the fight where he got exposed, he won every round. Interesting :think

 

It was the best guy he fought in a long time and he couldn't cut it without fouling to the extreme.
People where saying he was in his prime and was unstoppable but it was only because he was getting away with excesssive fouling while fighting bottom feeders.
He was exposed as not being that great the way i see it.
