Great performance by Groves, But did anybody think...

it was the first round knock down. He was likely knocked out on the way down then woke up when he hit the canvas. Check out the symptoms of a concussion.

Iv'e had a concussion, bloody awful. You wouldnt want to fight 8 rounds with one I'll tell ya what!

 

I think u may be right, watch the replays and he looks out as he goes down then wakes up whem he hits the canvas. He even said after he doesnt remember it . I think he was fighting from then on half out cold and impaired but Does he have guts and guts is enough

Yeah mate he was gone, only temporarily maybe, but he wasn't there for a second or so.

 

He was i didnt think hed get up that punch landed perfectly. Shows how good his chin is and how much guts hes got to fight on. Though i think the beating he took will age him i think froch will be spent from now on.

 

Thats not making excuses for Froch. I think GG would have always connected. He had done his homework alright, a very clever fighter/trainer.

Froch was absolutely fine. Groves just made him look bad. Groves told Froch what he was going to do, and Froch laughed at him.

 

Groves' work. His speed, movement, countering and power made Froch perform like that.

 

He misjudged Groves speed and power and was then taken aback with the brutal realisation. You could also argue that psychologically he did not want to give Groves the satisfaction of his gameplan being executed as well continually as it was in the first round and this probably made him wary too.
That being said, Froch is one tough SOB

 

People just underestimated Groves - thats it.

groves was the puncher in that fight not froch... Woodhall and many other experts before the fight were riding fthe froch express and were saying there was no way groves could hurt iron chinned froch...

froch does accumalitive damage... But punchers like Groves and Haye have that one punch KO power... Where with one punch they can change a fight. julian Jackson is the most extreme example of such a fighter... groves like all punchers will have stamina issues in the later rounds and furthermore is still a little vulnerable when clocked on the chin...

 

He's a slow starter, and got floored very heavily after 2 minutes... had a huge huge impact imo

 

he's slow full stop, just so tough he slows his opponents down to his own pace later in fights. plus it shouldn't be ignored that he fought on after a kd that would be a ko for most.
