Hurt and Froch was starting to pile it on but didn't think he was out of it there and then. The tide had turned ok but not near worthy of a stoppage

Honestly at the time I thought Froch was on his way to getting him out of there. But that still doesn't justify the stoppage coming when it did.

Some serious over-egging of the situation from Froch fans here. Groves was caught, but was firing back. It was the first time he'd been hurt and there was no way Carl was about to stop him.

It was one of the worst stoppages we have ever seen in this sport, let's not pretend it wasn't that bad.

    Exactly this ^^^

Groves was hurt no doubt about it but who's to say Froch wouldnt have walked onto a big punch going for the kill,or maybe Groves would have took a knee and given himself time to recover then got up and continued to dominate the fight, maybe Froch would have knocked him out a few seconds later. There are so many ways it could have played out,I guess we'll never know now though because of the wank decision.

    Hope there is a rematch.

haven't watched it back yet but though as soon as they started trading and Froch came off best I thought Froch would stop him. Groves posture was all over the show at that point so I thought he was going to get Buted on the ropes as it was I thought groves was a decent shot from going over or out when he pushes the ref off he falls into the ropes - he hadn't had his legs totally under him for a few seconds.

Thought Froch was just about to really open him up and could see a finish soon - next 20 seconds or so.

Still cried out 'for ****s sake ref' when he stepped in though. It was too soon, way too soon.

    Same here.

After watching the replay I thought Groves looked even more out of it than I thought he was in real time but he may well have proved me wrong, given the chance.

It should have been left to play out to a clear finish. It wasn't. I'm not too bothered to be honest because now we've a good chance of a rematch and it will not be any different in terms of excitement, I'm sure. Their styles, strengths and personalities mesh sooo well for a ****in' good fight.

I was hoping Groves would get off the ropes. Stoppage was bad, but being on the ropes against Froch is not a good look

these British refs don't seem to realise that the sport they are reffing is boxing... Guys punching each other as hard as they can in the face, sometimes it hurts when you get punched in the face, it is the refs job to protect the boxers from serious damage once a boxer is no longer able to defend themselves. Our British refs will stop a fight the moment 2 or 3 punches land on a guy that knocks his head back a bit if the guy looks a bit tired, regardless of whether he is still defending himself/moving etc... It's a ****ing disgrace... Then on the other hand we've got British refs desparately giving the home fighter every possible chance (i.e. David Price vs. Tony Thompson) administering standing 8s, breaking the fighters up and even going as far as to drag a fighter who is out on his feet back to his corner.

He actually did get off the ropes. He was only on the ropes for 3-4 seconds.

No one is being bias in this thread, when George was hurt before the ref stepped in I felt that Froch would have had him out of there sooner or later. It was a **** poor stoppage so we will never know.

I thought George was about 20 seconds away from being stopped. But at the end of the day. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks. Bad officiating has robbed everyone knowing what the real out come would have been. Bring in Steve Smoger for the re match. No way should they let one of our own near this fight.

Groves was gone. I thought his neck had snapped with those 2 last shots
