I think its fair to say we have done Froch/Groves, the rematch, the ref is a tosser ect to death. My question is how good is George Groves ? Where does he go from here and who does he fight next if the rematch does not happen straight away ?. Did the Froch fight made Groves look better than he is due to Frochs style (limited skill).

I think it showed Groves' versatility as a fighter. Everyone thought he would fight on the backfoot, as he did against Degale, and that he would get destroyed if he tried to take the centre of the ring.

The only question mark remains over his ability to go 12 rounds in such a fight. Off the top of my head he's only been 12x3 with Degale and Johnson.

He's a fighter who is going to make some noise at world level that's for sure. He'll definitely be a world champion.

Like it's already been said, he's proven his versatility in that he can fight to a game plan whether it be pressing the fight or fighting off the back foot.

His movement is fantastic, he has a rocket right hand, good timing and a solid jab. At the age of 25, it's onwards and upwards for the Saint.

Im hoping to see Groves in some more title fights, I would love to see him in with Ward ect. I think he did great on Saturday but Im also unsure about his ability to do 12 rounds at the highest level.

He is the real deal and as posters above have mentioned, has shown his versatility by controlling the fight on the front foot and attack Froch. He has very good skills, speed and power. His chin looks decent too. I would like to see him fighting other title holders now and see how he does. The most interesting fight for me is a Ward fight. This will be the ultimate test of his skill level.

    His future is very bright.

I think Groves vs. Ward would be a great fight. Probably the only technical fighter at 168 who could give Ward some problems. If Bute had to 'prove himself' by fighting Froch to get a shot at Ward, I wonder whether SOG considers Groves has 'proved himself' enough to fight him? Should Ward fight Groves, or if he moves up to 175, is he 'ducking' Groves like Froch would be if he doesn't take the rematch?! Or does Ward say 'Froch stopped him, why should I fight him, I dominated Froch?'

Groves is a star imo. I personally think hes shown a hell of a lot of maturity. A fight vs an olympic champion with all the attention & pressure he handled very well. I was sold from then in honesty. He came good beyond expectation vs froch.

Ill go as far as saying he'll be a handful for ward. Hes a smart fighter and will definitely try executing a plan with ward. 2 versatile fighters and one of them can land bombs.

I do think Frochs styles was made for Groves style of boxing, and wonder if that version of Groves is the best he can be based on groves previous fights. I think Bika or Stieglitz would be the next step for Groves.

This is what Ward said about fighting Froch "Like I said, it's my legacy at stake if he didn't beat me, but if something happens like in the Groves fight then that is tough to live down. It's a lot of moving pieces." So by reading this, he means the stoppage was incorrect and that Groves won.

The most skilled boxers in the SMW division are Groves, Bute and probably Degale. Lets see what Degale does when he steps up to top world level and see.

Second best SMW in the world.

Impressive considering he is only 25.

I think if groves and ward fought groves would win because he will crack ward on the chin a couple of times with the accuracy he has and he knocked froch down so he's definetly going to knock ward down and/or out if he hits ward on the chin.

Im looking forward to see where Groves goes from here, I dont see why Ward wont fight Froch again if he (Froch) puts the titles on the line, its a great chance for Ward to unify the division. I would have thought Ward would be falling over himself to unify especially with Froch looking war torn against Groves.

I personally think he should have waited to fight Froch and go instead for easier World title holders like Robert Steiglitz or Sakio Bika and then 12 months from now when he'd had a couple of defences and experience of fighting Top 15 fighters i doubt he would have made the mistakes he did against Froch that let him back into a fight he was controlling.

He's clearly very good considering his age and level of experience. He should continue to improve over the next few years with more experience. He's Ward's biggest challenge at SMW (or will be in the next few years) along with Bute if he can still make weight and GGG if he moves up.

Lets see him go 12 rounds against world class opposition.

He had 3 rounds left to go on Saturday.!!!

Yes he made a great start and boxed really well, but lets not get too carried away, he looked exhausted in that 9th.

However he does seem versitle (back foot, box, front foot etc) and I hope he can carry the torch in the SMW division.
