Price vs Orlov and Pulev vs Tank Williams

Sherman Williams has never been knocked down in his entire pro career and he has decent power.

Pulev is already the IBF mandatory but needs rounds to stay sharp, and Williams will provide that.

 

About the type of guys you would expect them to face on that date.

Pulev had one fight this year and really needed to just get some rounds in. He has a guaranteed fight with Wlad so he's not going to face anyone risky to ruin that big fight. Williams is durable and will give him some pretty safe rounds.

Price is coming off two straight ko losses so a safe opponent to comeback from made sense. Fighting in Germany, on an undercard, against an easy opponent is pretty much what Price needs.

I guess a Pulev-Povetkin and Price-Chisora card would be a lot more interesting but that wasn't realistic.

I'd guess Pulev by wide decision and Price by mid to late stoppage here.

 

Sharpness while not putting his £1 million plus pay day at too much risk. He could just sit on his arse mind.

 

Is the doubleheader meant to set up Pulev vs. Price?

...because neither of them has any business losing here. There must be a 'point' to such kid glove matchmaking.

 

It was a legit kd, but it wasn't a hard one. Williams was a bit off balance and Washington landed a right with enough force to topple him over onto his butt. Williams wasn't in any real trouble in that fight, though.

 

I don't think so. Sauerland are not exactly known for putting their own fighters against eachother and putting blemishes on their records by themselves.

Pulev's fight is just a keep busy fight to give him some rounds so he wouldn't stay inactive while waiting for his IBF mandatory shot. And Price's fight is the start of a rebuild project Sauerland announced when they signed with him. They are going to try to give him what Maloney didn't give him - some tough rounds with competent, yet not too dangerous fighters so he'd get his confidence back and so he'd develop his skills and toughness.

I don't think they are setting up any fight between Pulev and Price. Those two fights are just what they both need at the current moment.
