Golovkin just got another reason to stay at 160

GGG far to easy to hit. Just look at the face on him. Groves would have a field day.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one, but it'd be a great fight either way - that's gotta be something we can agree on (in fact I find it hard to imagine a boxing fan who wouldn't want to see 'the battle of the Gs').

Been there, done that. Lots of BUMs, STIFFs, Tomato Cans and NO HOPERs under Golovkin's name. I was just wondering if you could tell me if anything had changed...

Your assertion basically boils down to "Martinez is the only talent at MW and if you did not fight him, you are a can" whether you realize it or not.

Anyhow, I think the next few years will be good for MW and SMW as PAC and FMJ age and the spotlight on WW wanes and shifts to GGG, Ward, Groves and Quillan.

No, would be a decent contest for a few rounds with Groves keeping GGG away from him by jabbing and moving however Golovkin would get to him by round 4 with an array of body shots, uppercuts and left hooks. His jab and footwork would set him up too land hard spiteful shots to groves head and body where I believe a stoppage would occur around round 7. The only real factor that's makes this a competitive fight is Groves natural size over GGG, which evens the playing field. Although Groves gave a great performance on Saturday he would never enjoy the same success against such a well schooled operator as Golvokin. Froch's defence was non existent, Groves was hitting a free target all night and yet eventually he succumbed to Frochs durability, heart and power. Golovkin would be too much for Groves.

Groves looked one dimensional, but the right was working, so it was on purpose I guess. He looked good.

 

Look at all of the people who have officially and irrefutably ducked Golovkin. This is why his resume isn't whatever you think it should be. Golovkin went 345-5 in the amatuers which says he's techniqually amazing. What was Groves' record? Even better, GGG's defense is superb and superbly subtle so that opponents think they'll be able to land on him and then they climb in the ring and realize none of their punches land cleanly. Everything skips off of gloves, shoulders, arms, or is rolled. I invite you to slowmo frame by frame through any of his latest fights to see what he's doing. He's techniqually better than Groves, defensively better than Groves, and hits harder than Groves. You just don't know how to scout boxers if you can't see that.

 

Golovkin had 350 amateur fights. He knows how to fight with skill................Golovkin would knock Groves out. Golovkin would knock Froch out, but he wants to finish up cleaning out the 160 lbs division first, he is trying to get a fight with Quillin, Martinez and anyone else. Macklin put Martinez through Hell. Golovkin easily knocked Macklin out in the 3rd round. Ishida knocked Kirkland out in the very first round, Paul Williams went 12 with him and couldn't even hurt him, much less knock him down, but Golovkin knocked Ishida through the ropes and out cold in the 3rd round......................not to mention so many others.............

 

But he´s not wrong. So far Golovkin hasn´t beaten anyone that let you suggest that he´s able to beat elite fighters in a weightclass above him.

 

I think Golovkin is a natural 160, I really don't understand this talk of him moving up in weight and don't see it happening as he was quite beefed up against Curtis to make weight.
