How's this fight going to go? Or does anyone care? Will probably be boring but I'll watch. I expect Paulie to beat him on points. But Zab's a good boxer too so I'm not sure. Here's another question for ya. If Paulie hadn't had so much trouble with his hands early in his career, do you think he would be in the same position today?
I think Judah wins on points. Paulie is tough, but won't be able to hurt Judah. While Judah can match Paulie with handspeed, and he can hurt Paulie. Judah will assume the role of stalker, and, I think, a close points win.
If paulie even had 15% more punching power he would be one of the top guys, which he may have been able to have had if he didn't break his hands early. You don't get people his heart and chin in there. But his lack of punching power leaves him not so confident when trying to sit down on his punches, which leaves him backing out quickly when he doesn't hurt people... which leaves him susceptible to big shot counters. I see this fight as a story fight. By that I mean, whoever wins will be the result of a series of potential extraneous circumstances. These different circumstances are, but are not limited to: Zab's age - does zab show up in the gym, does he do his road work, does he prepare like he did against mayweather, can he stick in it towards the end of the fight. Zab's heart- if he doesn't get paulie out of there, or if he counts 10 punches paulie landed(whether or not they are big shots) to his one attempt, does he get frustrated and thow the fight? Paulie- does he come with the proper game plan? Can he emulate Amir Khan in HIS zab fight perhaps? I see Paulie doign just that. While he doesn't have the pop that Amir did, he has a blueprint to frustrate Zab and if that happens and he gets in Zabs head, there is no way zab can hope to win. Zab is the only person keeping Zab off of the top p4p list. I even think Zab is what kept Zab from beating Mayweather.
They're both loud mouths, BUT they're both really skilled boxers. Paulie goes to work and stays on the clock the whole fight. I predict a close fight, with Zab trying to end it in the late rounds. If Paulie can survive that he'll win on points. SD.
Golden Boy has 3 other NYC Based Welters, so expect winner to face one of them next: Luiz Collazo, Sadam Ali, Michael Perez
Collazo is fighting Victor Ortiz in late January at the Barclays. Sadam Ali promotes himself and doesn't seem anxious to go anywhere near a top 10 opponent.
Zab UD 12, he holds significant physical advantages over Paulie that he won't be able to overcome. Zab can break down mentally (although he didn't with Danny), but Paulie has nothing to force it. I don't see a whole lot of cleanly landed punches in this fight, it may turn into a real chess match.
