To fight Kovalev, they are asking the amount of money that Ward is getting or Cotto is getting. Otherwise, they will milk Steveson with an other 8000 to 10000 in attendance to fight a nobody, imagine somebody with a name that people know well (ala Hopkins). Thought? HBO have some leverage but not that much in Quebec since the promotionnal organizations can make a fare amount of money just with the number of people in attendance + local ppv.
this is what ive been saying all along...that they want 1 or 2 big money fights before kovalev(big money less risk)...or if hbo is willing to put up the right amount of cash then they will fight him.... its all about $ and the fact they know stevenson has about 2 years left in his career where he can actually perform at top level...they know kovalev is an actual threat...so they want big $ for the mega fight...which i think is understandable... i mean who would you rather watch and pay for a ppv if you had to...ward vs anyone? mayweather vs khan? or kovalev vs stevenson? i think the answer is clear...but it would need a good undercard along with it
