No faith in Lamar Russ? :think

Unbeaten, regular sparring partner for Golovkin, had over 200 amateur bouts and fought the likes of Fernando Guerrero and Shawn Porter and was ranked 5th in the nation at middleweight, in only 14 pro bouts has already fought a slew of high-caliber journeymen (like Upshaw, Jordan, Mundy and Kamya) and knocked out two fellow prospects with records of 12-0 and 13-0...

I mean, granted Macklin is vastly more experienced and has been in with at least ten guys who stand head and shoulders above Russ' best single win, and is considered a top 5-10 head to head middle and should be the favorite here - but to say it's not even the least bit interesting? For real?

Will go with Showtime, however, I have a DVR and PIP, so with the PIP I can and actually have watched two fights at one time, or the DVR, can watch later, anytime, or you have HBO East/West, same with Showtime, etc..........

Showtime and Football, HBO has to wait. serious football games coming on. OSU-Michigan St and Stanford and AZ St are great games.

    What a night of boxing

    Barker-Strum earlier too.

If I could only see one boxer/fight tonight it'd be Rigo I think.

    ...tomorrow night?

    Today is Friday. :D

Incidentally, there is a ShoBox card tonight. J'Leon Love and Badou Jack in moderately challenging 10-rounders.

Showtime is killing it this weekend.

    A quick peek at Russ:

    • [yt]KF8M_WlDl9o[/yt]

^ That is from last year. The opponent entered at 13-0...

    A longer eyeful of Russ:

    • [yt]G-b9IJhOYus[/yt]
    • [yt]5Y3UIWCKo3k[/yt]

^ That is three years ago. Dude had a losing record but had already been in with Kid Chocolate, Edwin Rodriguez, Buddy McGirt Jr., and some other prospects.

Kind of interesting, Russ is filling in for Willie Nelson and just happens to have a KO victory over Nelson in the amateurs.

It'd be nice to see a new player emerge on the MW scene, Russ looks to have the size advantage over Matthew, but he's a bit sloppy and swings wide & wild at times.
