Froch looks to have slowed down a lot. I noticed it in the second Kessler fight. Ward beats him in even more convincing style this time
My thoughts exactly,Al.People say unbeaten records count for nothing, but due to Howard erring far too much on the side of safety,Groves lost his.And is justifiably sick.I personally, for what its worth, think Groves would have fought back and won the fight, narrowly as it turns out.But none of this is Frochs fault. As you know, none of this is unique.I said in another discussion that I thought Froch should be able to defend against, say,Chavez, before giving George his return. If he doesn't,nobody has the right to call him a coward. Its a strong word, especially to Froch.
He knows he only has a couple of fights left in him. He wants to go out avenging his losses, he's done that with Kessler, he wants to do it with Ward now. He took Groves lightly in my opinion and never thought Groves would be as good as he was. He got the W and will be always say he is satisfied with that for his legacy, even though deep down he isn't
Does Froch really want to always have that stigma attached to him having never given the re-match ????, cause it will never go away. He knows better than anyone that he would stand a good chance of losing the rematch , his ego is getting in the way of the next fight he should have , but in reality that fight is the only one that will give him any credit win or lose.
He's gonna go to the states, try and claw back the Brit following he's lost after the Groves fight by being the "Brit fighting in Vegas". Recharge the ego and cash in during the process. I doubt it will be Ward first of all, probably the absolute joke fight against Chavez Jr who he will mop the floor with. In that time Groves best bet would be to go after Stieglitz or Bika get his own negotiating power. I also think he should try and align himself with Sauerland rather than Matchroom, they have the ability to deliver those fights and also have a good relationship with Matchroom so wont lose his Sky PPV marketability. Signing with Matchroom who are basically Team Froch (rightly so he has been their flag bearer since they took prominence) wont work in his favor come time to sit down and talk numbers.
Agree that its probably good to do a Price and go with Sauerland.Would it increase his chances of a Steiglitz fight? Not sure Bika is right for him.Joe got a cut and that wasn't normal for him.It is for George. Also Im not sure Froch mops the floor with Chavez.50 50 for me.Also I can't remember not buying a PPV fight. But Id think twice about buying a Ward return.Absolutely crap fight.Carl hasn't got a prayer, though he's not on his own in that.
I think until he got bumped up to mandatory Bika is where Groves eye was as his route really. I think Degale beats him to Stieglitz but thats heavily dependent on fat Mick pulling his finger out. I've never been a fan of nor rated Chavez Jr, has wasted his talents of which I feel were over hyped due to his father. Thats just me, some others think he's indiscretions outside the ring have robbed boxing of some sort of second coming. Think when he realises he cant stop Froch he deckchairs and retires on his stool
This is the one time boxing gave us the answer for somehing People were saying Froch would beat Ward in England and Ward is scared Then we got to see Froch being destroyed then a british stoppage, no one can blame Ward for not fighting in England now
After Froch claimed he was going to give Groves a 'one sided whooping', he has backed away more from the re-match in every interview he gives. Froch was hit and hurt more in that fight than any other fight, but despite that it was his ego that took the biggest hit.
Only thing is Solaris,a fair bit of time elapsed between the fights with Kessler. The return didn't happen straight away. But I agree with you he doesn't deserve a rematch with Ward.If he really believes he can win,he's the only one.Its a poor fight. If Froch carries on,I don't think hell duck George, but he's entitled to fight somebody else first if he wants.Whatever you or I think,he won the fight. But on Ringside tonight he gave the impression he might just retire.
Hes not being a coward, but a businessman. If he were to lose vs groves, the GGG Chavez Jr and Ward fights (prob all ppv whether u like it or not) are in jeapordy. He will fight groves i reckon, just not nxt
