Nobody can have a bad word to say about Darren. It's such a shame he will be largely ignored by the masses.

He's a gent, a good fighter and TBH his perseverance is commendable and a inspiration to people who may be on verge of quitting.

I always felt he'd win a world title belt and he's done that and done it the old fashioned way with British,Commonwealth and European titles and gone abroad to win world title.

Barker's barmy army till the end!.

It's a shame that to get attention you have to behave like a ****. Barker has done it the right way but most casuals would look at you bewildered if you mentioned his name, yet he is a world champion. Such a shame.

Hope he wins tomorrow to set up some massive domestic clashes next year.

I like Darren I really do but does anyone else think that fights like these are not real world title bouts because they are clearly not the best in the division. I know some smart arse will say of course it's a real world title but in my view i's just another belt.

Yeah i agree. It's a part of the sport sadly. I mention him and post vids of him on facebook and get nothing yet another lesser fighter gets people talking.

Sad really but really happy he's earning some good money tomorrow and lord willing he comes home safe with his belt and gets some more good earners.

even if he loses he has rematch in clause so if he wins he will have big domestic fight guy shud at least get 2 or 3 big paydays to set him up fair play

true. boxing needs to be on a major free to air channel before it will happen, though.

Yes dellboi its just another belt. But with things being as they are we've got 2 top class boxers facing each other in a big event tonight. If that belt wasn't involved they wouldn't be and wed be waiting for the supreme champ to defend HIS belt and maybe complaining that he was taking the easiest route.
I watched the Barker documentary last night.Nice wife, nice kid, nice family.Top fella. Also watched bits of the Geale fight for the first time, and for me he showed stuff Id not seen before.Maybe he has peaked.I hope he wins, and I think he can. Then I hope the excellent trainer behind him has a word in his ear and he leaves the game with nothing to prove.

In fairness Mandanda you fail to mention that he has been the darling of Sky - the biggest sports media outlet in town, for years ....that is priceless PR that you couldnt buy.
Other far more talented boxers never get that..even ones in his own division.
All that spin and hype...Barker the street-crime hero...Barker the bereaved martyr ....Barker this, Barker that...I bet Matthew Macklin or Nick Blackwell must go :dead whenever they turn on Sky...
If you ask me Barker has got more than his fair share of media hype.
Thats not a knock on him - he is a nice guy, just trying to put some balance on things.

Yeah it is but many divisions do not have such a big gulf between the top two GGG and Martinez to the rest of the contenders.
