While I voted in the bar 900,000 PPV buys and above my actual prediction for Mayweather-Khan is 1.1 million to 1.2 million PPV buys, which is down from my original prediction of 1.4 to 1.6. Mind you that was before Khan had pulled out of his previously scheduled December 7th fight with Devon Alexander for the IBF Welterweight strap, a fight that I was picking Khan to win by a tough and close split decision had it happened.

And also my reason being that this fight will do more than a million buys is this, if Mayweather-R.Guerrero actually did somewhere between 875,000 to 1 million PPV buys based mainly on the fact that a lot of people did not know who Guerrero was going in at the time than people will come out and watch this one based on the simple fact that Khan is well known and has a more of a sizable fanbase than Guerrero.

Let's go back some 25-years ago when Sugar Ray Leonard was making his, ummmm, ahh yes 3rd comeback against WBC Lightheavyweight Champion Donny LaLonde for the later's title at 175lbs and for the at that time newly created WBC Supermiddleweight title at 168lbs. Following Leonard's dramatic knockout over LaLonde the general boxing purists was immediatedly calling out for Sugar Ray Leonard to fight the young, up and coming undefeated World Middleweight Champion(160lbs) Michael "Second To" Nunn who was being groomed as the next big thing in boxing at the time, coming off of sizzling knockout wins over solid foes in Frank Tate, Sumbu Kalambay & Juan Roldan, but wasn't that well known himself beyond the general boxing public unlike Leonard who was. Nunn and Marvelous Marvin Hagler 2 was the two fights that the general public had voted for Leonard to fight as opposed to fighting a rematch with Tommy Hearns which Ray would do and the fight ended in a controversial draw but did huge PPV/CCT #'s at the gate or the trilogy between Leonard-R.Duran which Ray won on a unanimous decision and drew even bigger numbers from PPV and CCT. Based on that prime example on public opinion, public approval or disapproval for an opponent a Floyd "Money" Mayweather vs Amir Khan fight is in good enough company and could do well to follow suit also and draw big PPV and gate revenue numbers.

GBP could've also went out on a mild limb for stating Khan's case and dug up former one time Khan conqueror Brandis Prescott for a mildly intriguing rematch in the U.K., for which tons of people would've came out to see and I would've watched on Showtime and with Amir avenging that defeat to Prescott(provided of course he's not in any way tied down to Top Rank)that would've eventually made for a more than reasonable case for Khan coming in to his fight with "Money" May.

I dont think the PPV sales will do as well as we might think. Even though Khan is a big seller, everybody i speak to in england say the same thing - He doesn't deserve the fight. And thats casuals. Most people seem uninterested by this fight. But i do hope it does big numbers, for the sake of the sport
