For sure he's overrated. Lampley was right on the money when he said Vasquez is the Sammy Serrano of this era: i.e. a boring, soft hitting defensive specialist who gains a reputation with longevity. Bradley completely outclassed him.
How can he be overrated if most people have never heard of him and he is the divisional leader and Lightweight? :think
Vasquez may not have a very fan friendly style, but he's a talented and crafty fighter. The IBF had ordered him to face Ameth Diaz in a rematch earlier this year, but Diaz pulled out and now they ordered him to face undefeated Russian Denis Shafikov. Btw, Vasquez was very green when he challenged Bradley as he was 20 years old and only had 1 1/2 yrs experience as a pro under his belt. It's hard to knock him for that loss, especially considering that it was at a higher weight class and against an up and coming future p4p champ in Bradley.
Very boring. He basically ran circles around what's his name (phillipino guy, name is escaping me right now) and slapped at him for the entire fight. Not a fun fighter to watch, no power. I feel like if someone with similar boxing skills fought him and could cut the ring off, it would be game over for Vasquez.
This is a very difficult fight for Vazquez. As far as head to head goes I rate Shafikov #1, I fancy him to beat Vazquez, as well as Gamboa, Crawford, Burns, Beltran and Abril. (In a fair fight anyway, he's not particularly powerful and might lose robberies to the likes of Crawford and Gamboa or Burns in Scotland, if he can't get the KO) :deal
Yes, because everybody says he's one of the best fighters in the world. There are threads littered everywhere with Miguel Vazquez.... You don't understand what overrated means. You're probably one of these guys that uses the word "literally" loosely.
Vazquez might be boring to watch, but he's a legit champ who would trouble anyone with his ultra spoiling style Burns and Broner ducked him recently for a reason yeah, if anything he's quite underrated around here
Not a big fan of Vazquez's style but let's face an ugly truth, he has some skills and if he was black he would be considered a slick fighter.
It's now been a year since he last laced them up :yikes Fights with Burns, Broner (who shamelessly ducked him), and a rematch with Ammeth Diaz (for some reason) all fell through.
