Muhammad Ali at his best vs. Wladimir Klitschko at his best, who wins?

Its like comparing a linebacker from the 70's to one of todays linebackers. Its common for people to hype and build off a legacy the longer a person is gone.ali was a cruiserweight.

 

I'm going to be controversial, but I would see Klitschko winning. He would do what he always does. Lean back, paw with the jab, get the points. He doesn't need to be fast to catch people. To beat a Klitschko now, you need to fight like a karate fighter really. Ali was quite upright at the same time, and he used his head movement but not in a huge way. He'd up unhurt for the entire fight, but he'd struggle to really get behind Klitschko's boring jab, and it'd probably be a mainly one sided Klitschko win.

now bubby , I was implying Ali could've made cruiserweight as he was a small heavyweight. Although he was a big heavyweight for his time. There is no need to direct negative verbal assaults towards me by refrencing that I'm a unintelligent anus.

Wlad is more powerful, and he's taller with a bigger reach.

But that wouldn't help him against a guy who's more skilled and a lot faster.

Do you seriously think that Wlad would have landed a jab on a moving target like Ali? His footwork would have bamboozled him.

How would Wlad have finished him? He couldn't even hit Haye clean to get him out of there, when he had him up against the ropes.

The only similarities that Haye has with Ali, is that he's as tall, and around the same weight as a prime Ali.

Other than that, there's nothing.

Haye's always had a poor defence, because he used to try and copy Roy Jones's style, with his left arm dangling. But he never had Roy's reflexes to get away. Ali's great footwork was his defence. Ali had superior footwork to Haye, better reflexes, and faster hand speed.

Byrd was a southpaw that fought nothing like Ali, your post is a joke.

 

If Ali trained today, he would win imo. Its just so freaking hard to compare fighters from different eras. If its the old ali shows up, i think klitschko would just be too much mass for him. I think Ali is the greater boxer, but modern training is just way too advanced and i tihnk ali would have trouble with modern tier 2 or tier 3 boxers.

Ali didn't struggle with Mildenburger, and again, Mildenburger was a southpaw, and was Ali's second 15 round fight within a month.

Cooper caught a young Clay, and Norton, Quarry, Bugner and Wepner all came after his lay off.

Now if you know anything about Ali, then you'd know that Ali after his ban, wasn't the same fighter.

He aged very quickly, and had to stand there and let a monster like Foreman pound away at him, because he didn't have the legs or the stamina to box him on his toes for 15 rounds, at just 32.

He took a lot of punishment in the ring, and in sparring in the 70's.


Ali's peak was just before the ban, when he was around 25 years old.

Reach is irelevant now. Its all about arm lenght , measured from the armpit to the tips of the fingers.

HBO done away with reach and now measure lenght.

If a guy has longer reach it doesn't means he has longer arms.

Ali had freakishly long arms.

He could also get off 5 jabs in the time Wlad throws 2 , whoever says Wlad has a better jab is:nut

Ali had superior footwork, making guys miss, and then countering, dancing on his toes, circling with the jab etc. Ali had a much better defence. He threw more combinations. Haye has more one shot power, and fast hands, but he doesn't throw many punches in bunches.

Ali was an all around better and faster fighter, but with less power.

Now if Wlad couldn't take out Haye, and was frustrated by his movement, then how would he have taken out a better, faster fighter in Ali?

Ali's footwork would have been a nightmare for Wlad to deal with.

All those guys were fast, but none of them were a constant moving target like a mid 60's Ali. I see your point though.
