Deontay Wilder may prove to be even worse than Seth Mitchell

Wilder has more hype now than Mitchell did. Mitchells resume was slightly better than Wilders is now though. That would be a real good fight, actually. I'd favor Wilder but Mitchell would be a live underdog, if he could score first he could win.

 

Well, from a technical standpoint, he is quite a bit worse.

Mitchell does more things "correctly" than Wilder, but Wilder is gargantuan and quick enough to get away with all his fundamental errors and still net early knockouts...thus far.

The White Wolf is the best single name there but his circumstances drag him down quite a bit. The five Mitchell victims could very well sweep the five Wilder victims in a tourney if you seeded them rank for rank. (#1 vs. #1, #2 vs. #2 etc)


Of course assuming the versions that fought Wilder and Mitchell, not all in their primes.

 

Wilder would savage Mitchel in a round. He looked a lot better to me against Firtha.

Good composure and defense on the inside. Seth had none of that.

 

I am 95% sure Wilder is a glass cannon barely above Travis Walker tier.

..Although yes he probably would spark Mitchell early, thanks again to his size and speed and given how Mitchell freezes up when tagged.

Should he not tag Mitchell with the first serious punch thrown by either, however, Wilder could end up in a jam. His compsure and defense on the inside would be tested once Seth got in there.

 

Imagine Wilder vs Mitchell, first guy to land a punch wins.

 

I'll reserve judgement on Wilder until he faces a live body. He looks great knocking out bums and must have a bit of power but how many guys like that have we seen get exposed when stepping up?

I think I'll stick to slightly better. He hadn't beaten Banks yet at the point of the end of Mitchell's hype, which is what I was referring to. So the lineup, best H2H vs best H2H at time of bout, would be
1. Ibragimov vs. 1 shot White Wolf= Ibragimov wins easy
2. Witherspoon vs. Harrison= close probably Harrison
3. Bryant vs. Firtha= close I'll say draw
4. Sykes vs. Price= Price
5. Davis vs Beck= Davis

Ibragimov is considerably better than anyone Wilder beat, after that the top 5 tightens up. Mitchell's journeymen opponents, outside the top 5, were generally better than Wilder's though.

 

Mitchell has fought real opponents, Wilder has only fought bums. Until Wilder fights a real fighter like a banks, we won't know, wilder's advantage is his big size makes up for his lack of talent, the question is how much.

 

Wilder very well may be the world's next Courage Tshabala.
