    Glad to see TR hired Merchant. He is a boxing icon and a reverential figure in his industry. It is a shame HBO pushed a man like him out the door for someone like Max Kellerman.

    An unfortunate sigh of the times we are living...

    I know enough about boxing to know when a guy is avoiding action. Watch Rigo vs. Cordoba, it gets pathetic after the 6th. A more skilled fighter wouldn't have put themselves at risk with the judges like that.

    Rigondeaux is one of the best fighters in the world clearly, but his last fight did nothing to promote boxing. Fights like that are why people go watch two guys wrestle around in a cage.

    Doubt he was "pushed out the door" after working for them for many many years and introducing many successful shows like Legendary Nights and so on. He was just too old for this and most likely couldn't keep up anymore.

    Mercahnat backed Witatker over Hoya. He got behind all the black fighters in the 80s and 90s.

    It makes no difference to boxing or those of us who actually care about it when some idiots decide a Rigondeaux is too boring for them and opt to go watch MMA.
