Is absolutely amazing. Not just in the Gomez fight, either. Throughout his past few fights, the improvement he's shown on this punch is absolutely monumental. It's fast, straight, and extremely hard. I know a lot of that has to do with him being a natural lefty, but either way that punch is a thing of beauty. One of the best jabs in the game today, and the way he's used it to neutralize faster fighters (Mosely, Judah) is textbook in every sense of the word. If he keeps it up his jab might overtake his left hook (to the body or head) as his most important punch - if it hasn't already.
You seem to be a big fan of the jab. Anyway, I agree with you. He has a hell of a jab. I was impressed with his right hand as well. If he continues to use his jab and develop that right hand, it will be very hard for people to avoid his left hook. Look at Mayweather, it's hard for people to stop his left hook because they're looking out for that straight right.
His best and only punch ... he's a natural lefty who fights out of the orthodox stance but unlike a guy like Pavlik who does the same ... he doesn't have power in his right hand. And just like DLH ... his power is soley in his left hand and he's never knocked out or hurt anyone with a right handed shot. You can't neutralize that and basically fight him like a southpaw and unload a bunch of right hands on him. He has no defense for the right hand ...
Cotto has a powerful jab.. He didnt even look to be throwing that hard of a punch against Gomez either and he dominated with ease.. I dont think theres a better jab in boxing right now better than Cottos.. jab, jab, left hook, ko ;p
No power in his right hand? Cotto has power in pretty much every shot he throws. Ask Bailey, Torres, and a bunch of other fighters he's blasted with his right hand. Did you just start watching Cotto fight against Judah or something? He has a pretty complete repertoire of punches.
