Because it clearly states he was "already" scheduled to fight Cintron. Something you seem to be slow to pick up on.

Williams had only 3 championship fights at 147 where he went 2-1. I fail to see how this man was "ducked" when he isn't even a blip on the radar in regard to welterweight history. You also seem to ignore his losses, as if he was some kind of monster nobody wanted to face. Williams was out-boxed by Carlos Quintana for crying out loud!

Williams being "avoided at 147" is about as much of a joke as Margarito being the "most feared man in boxing." Absolute comedy that people actually believe that ****.

williams was looking for an opponent for a month after he beat margarito. mayweather wanted no part of him. cotto went and ducked him as well. all that was left was cintron.

stop diminishing william as a champion, mayweather defended his belt against a 140lb fighter, then retired. you're one to talk.

I'm not diminishing ****. You just think I am because you have this unrealistic view of Williams run at 147. The guy had to rematch Quintana and NEVER fought at 147 again. I could give a **** what you think he said about making weight at 147. FACT IS, HE NEVER DID AGAIN.

This is you: "Williams could have made 147! He said so!" (Opinion)
This is me: "Williams never made weight for 147 again or fought in the division again." (Fact)

Cotto went and fought another Top Rank fighter, Margarito. That doesn't mean "Cotto ducked Williams." That means "Bob Arum matched Cotto with Margarito." Thinking Cotto called the shots with Arum is foolish.

Williams run at 147 was nothing special. That does not diminish Williams as a champion because that is reality. There is not much to diminish when he only had 3 championship fights at 147.

And again, your timeline is so out of wack it is hilarious: Margarito fought Williams on July 14th. Hatton was signed to fight Mayweather by early August. Yea, that whole 2 weeks Mayweather was "ducking Williams."

no victor you clown. cotto went and fought a golden boy fighter named shane mosley not margarito. williams never immediately signed to fight anyone after beating margarito, yet you claim he signed to fight cintron immediately after beating margarito. williams moving out of 147 because he couldn't get a fight is a fact not opinion.

and yes you are diminishing him as a champion, but your boy floyd defended his belt against a 140lb fighter then retired after instead of fighting margarito, cotto or williams. the irony.

The fact you can't understand a simple timeline is baffling.

July 14th - Williams beats Margarito.
Beginning of August - Mayweather/Hatton already finalized. (Which means negotiations were already going on in July)

THAT IS ONLY A 2 WEEK WINDOW!! Are you trying to suggest Mayweather should have signed to fight Williams in the 2 weeks after his Margarito win? And because he did not, that's a duck? GTFOH!

What the **** are you going on about? I never said he "signed to fight Cintron IMMEDIATELY after Margarito." I said William was "lined up" to fight Cintron. That's who they wanted and would have got if Cintron did not get injured. Which again is a moot point because Mayweather wasn't even available! (Hatton/Mayweather was already signed)

Please direct me to the news article that is dated for after July 14th 2007, but before August in 2007 that shows Williams calling out Mayweather. It does not exist, and again, you are full of ****.

plenty of time to sign a fight with williams. he had plenty of time to sign a fight with williams after he destroyed quintana in a round and after he beat martinez. how can you sit here and say this guy did not avoid williams is beyond me.

Floyd and everyone else ducked Williams

    Everyone in boxing knows this

Floyd would never have given Williams a chance to destroy him

Instead he signed to fight the 140 guy and then retire

That is why he is a coward

    Lets be honest though

Destroying winky wright is a much bigger achievement. Than beating fraud mayweather
Destroying margarito with hand wraps is a much bigger achievement than beat fraud mayweather
Sending Quintana to sleep scared floyd into vacation
Schooling a prime Martinez is better than anything mayweather has ever done

Williams is better than mayweather on the atg list

Floyd got out boxed by Castillo

Beat me to it. People always forget about Nate. He was THE TOP guy to beat at LW when Manny entered the division. Instead he chose the punching bag champion who's best talent was getting his face busted up in fight after fight, David Diaz. Nate came-a-calling and Manny went-a-running from the division.

Floyd jumps to LW and beats the MAN not once but twice, Castillo.

Manny jumps to LW and beats the worst of the champs, Diaz. After it was shown he can handle the weight, he completely dismissed fighting the #1 guy of the division after Nate called him out.

Is that or is that not a duck?:think

Boxing Fans - "Floyd and Pac must get in the ring"

Floyd - "Pac has to take a PED's test first" :rofl
