London is a bit of a dump, but frankly I'd rather live there than the North.

    no.

you sound like one of those lads from a shire county town who takes the **** out of london slang/lingo/culture, cos you don't really know what's going on, but deep down you want to be a part of it cos it appears more exciting than your dull life in the village where everyone knows everyone.

Is there really any need for the childish squabbles about London and the North? It's all irrelevant to this thread which is actually about an interesting topic for British boxing

Personally I think Groves hit the nail on the head when he suggested Froch should have been a little more gracious in victory.

He must know he was schooled for the first 6-7 rounds of that fight and he must know the stoppage was early and somewhat contentious

All he needed to say was that the stoppage may have been too quick but he felt he was in the verge of victory having weathered a heavy storm. All the silly talk about starting to dominate the fight and it becoming very one sided in his favour because frankly that is bollocks.

Yes he had finally found his mans chin and yes he had hurt him and when Groves slumped and turned away from his opponent it looked very much like Froch could go on to stop him because he had him rocking and he's a great finisher, but there's no way the fight should have been stopped when it was and surely having done so much good work in his first title fight that he deserved more time than he was given to recovery and continue to fight for his first world title.

As for what next, I don't think Froch will want any more of Groves because he was just too quick and too strong for him and he will surely train to avoid being caught by a big shot in a rematch which really looked like Froch's only means to victory as he was outclassed in every other department.

If the money is right I am sure the rematch could happen, there must be a part of him that wants to prove he's better than this kid in his heart even though I'm sure his head says he's best off avoiding a fight that is such a bad stylistic match up for him and one he has little to gain and everything to lose from.

You make it sound worse than it actually was. And i disagree Froch has everything to lose if he doesn't fight Groves again.

Its a lose-lose situation for Froch. He knows escaping with a lucky win and ducking a rematch is better than getting schooled again and probably knocked out.

to be fair to the ref, grove's face looked shitfcked at the moment of stoppage, but his pink puffy dace didn't help his cause. he was still standing and throwing.

whereas froch looked like he could soak it up for ever even though he was being hurt.

People the rematch will happen, eddie hearn has recently stated in a interview that a rematch would be the biggest revenue british fight of all time and froch would make more than he has ever earnt. Now that he has stated that I don't think there is anyway froch can say no as he always says in his interviews he will speak to eddie and go from there. Personally I don't think the rematch would live up to the first fight. Groves was amazing no doubt, but I think he has stamina issues and I don't think he can sort them out in six months, froch however may be shot now, that was a serious beating he took for six rounds, will the result be any different probably not as I don't think groves could of hit him flush anymore than he did and the man soaked it all up. I don't like froch but the man is a freak.

No it's not if he walks away and fights someone else then he loses his Warrior image and the respect of the fans and that will taint his legacy. And i disagree Froch can win the rematch, ok he might need to go another 7 rounds of heavy punishment before breaking Groves down and maybe that's what is putting him off, at the same time he "might" put Groves away early or he "might" get put away himself. It's a 50/50 fight IMO ,But it's the most important fight out there for him.
