Hell of a match up. You have a superb technical fighter with loads of savvy and drive. And a savage punching, take no prisoners type with skills of his own. Neither has seen anything remotely like the other. Much credit to Ward should he take this fight. However, I don't think he does. Don't know which way to lean just yet. Edit: ah fugg it, I'll cast my lot with Kovalev. I think at the higher weight he'll be able to muscle Ward into position for the KO.
Very hard to pick, i went for Ward but he will certainly go through some sticky patches in that fight, Ward has the skill to outbox Kovalev, i just feel his defensive ability and his accuracy help him win on points, Kovalev has got a very good chance however, If he hits Ward clean Ward will be in bad bad trouble, At 175 how does Ward cope with a fighter with Kovalev's pressure and strenth coming at him for 12 rounds, Ward won't have the power to hurt Kovalev can he win on the back foot and stay out of trouble for 12?
You think? I'd have though Kovalev would be a pretty strong favourite This is EXACTLY the sort of fight Ward needs to take if he wants to establish a legacy to match his ability
Kovalev by ****. this fight will not happen because of those reasons. Ward wants nothing to do with him. if he did, he would be making plans to get a big win for himself. but he knows he can't win. it'll never happen.
His ability to slip and his incredible infighting skills? Funny how the same thing was said of Froch before their fight. Ward has decent power himself, he just doesn't go for the knockout. If he didn't have respectable power Froch would have walked through him, however he was very wary of his counters because he obviously has pop.
SOG. gonna take more than just a big punch to defeat Ward. and if ward moves up he will have a crazy speed advantage.
