How does Felix Trinidad do in todays 147 and 154 divisions?

Nobody stands a chance at Welter today, Thurman will do as good as he can, but he is still the under vs Trinidad...Vargas was as impressive as Thurman and he just couldn't deal with Tito ring personality

 

Against today's WW's, Tito would be arrested for manslaughter.

He's big by today's standards and no one has his level of power nor his offensive capabilities. Even if one of these current blown up JWW could hurt him, Tito had excellent recuperative ability.

 

Some of you naysayers need a dose of reality here; lemme help you out.

This era of welters is a bunch of blown up 140 lbers; period.

All the top guys with the exception of Thurman campaigned below welter
for significant portions of their careers. Many more than 2 divisions lower!

The welters of the 90s were much bigger men: Tito, ODLH, Bazooka Quartey, Forrest, all had physicality that today's fighters can't match. All of the aforementioned came up and had success at '54 and beyond later in their careers.

At welter, other than PBF, I can't see any of the current welters boxing Trinidad safely over 12, or imposing their will enough to win.

Bradley, JMM, PAC, Maidana, would look tiny in there. They would be there to be hit, and that's not good for your health when it's Trinidad.

As far as Floyd, tough call. Whitaker wasn't too far gone from the DLH fight when Tito took him apart. Cotto took 4 rounds from Floyd in their fight.
Hard to say. Close fight over 12, don't think Tito catches up, but PBF would have to come in an ambush style like the Corrales fight. I don't think he could just get on his bike and win on points. Judges love em some aggression; hence Canelo pulling a SD loss in a whitewash of a fight, and old Oscar a SD in a closer, but still clear bout.

Regarding 154, other than Lara, it's much of the same. I could see Erislandy
giving Tito some problems, but not enough to be anything less than a live dog.

Tito's competition would run roughshod through those divisions today-
OHDL would run '47, Winky and Vargas at '54.

IMO welter and jmw are as weak as theyve been in quite some time. Wake up, these divisions are diluted.:deal

Trinidad/Kirkland would be the mother of all slugfests .

Despite Tito being from my country , I have to show integrity as a boxing fan .

I admit I would be very worried for Tito , Kirkland is one strong relentless mofo .

 

But lets not forget .

Vargas made Tito go life and death with him .
