i remember watching a documentary on itv a few years ago, and after the fight when benn is on his way to the dressing room he suddenly collapses right before giving in a urine sample. i get it, he took massive punches against McClellan, but it seemed a little fishy to me. i don't believe the stuff McClellan's trainer said about getting a sample of benns blood having it tested and finding that he had steroid's running through his circulatory system. i just wondered what you guys thought about all this.

Nah i don't think so. I think they're looking for reasons to point to, Rather then accept the blame themselves..

NO NO NO, He fought for his life in that ring & took massive amount of punishment until he grit & guts got him into a place where he could smash the **** out of McClellan who never even trained for this fight such was his arrogant distain for Nigel. So what is fishy about it???

Have you never seen Nigel fight before:lol:

yeh i have watched all his fights and i don't jump on his dick like an obnoxious fan boy, perhaps you should take off you're tainted glasses and follow the sport more objectively.

    Good chance.

But an evenly good chance at McClellan being on steroids and duretics in most of his fights. He clearly was the type and his quick dehydrations to around 190 seems to indicate something fishy was going on.

Although i admire him as a boxer, he did look a little iffy in that interview. Did he take steroids? Probably did. Was McCelland on steroids? Probably was too, so the debate is moot in my opinion.

Talking about boxers who were caught, If a boxer like RJJ, who is one of my all time favourites, can be caught taking steroids with his outstanding attributes, then it's conceivable that a lot of other boxers of that era were taking steroids too.

It never occurred to me at the time but I was a young man back then and naive to such things! I've since seen the fight again and watched the various documentaries about the fight. I'm not convinced Benn was on any PED's but rather I'm convinced that he put on one of the bravest showings I've ever seen in the ring. He knew he was up against a better, more powerful man than him but he was prepared to walk through the flames and go out on his sheild. Many of Benn's fights were to-and-fro affairs but that was one night when the mentality he had built up during training carried him through a torrid, brutal fight!!

I don't know for sure, but Nigel never took punches that well before or after, that's for sure. It helps when the referee holds your opponent back from hitting you, too. Then there is the fact that Benn was a true warrior and it gets even more debatable! He was superhuman that night, clean or dirty.

Also, there was a round where Benn accidentally butted McClellan after losing balance; after this Gerald reacted differently to Benn's bombs. I think that's where the damage occurred. Very sad all round.
