This is the first time I’ve ever heard someone refer to Clinton Woods as overrated.

Anyway, I will give limited credit to Calzaghe should he beat Hopkins on Saturday night (which I thoroughly expect him to do). I don’t put much stock in Hopkins’ victory over Winky although I do think his victory over Tarver was a decent one despite Tarver obviously being at least a little bit drained. The problem is that I cannot get those unforgettable images of the very ordinary Jermaine Taylor having little difficulty finding a home for his speedy punches and managing to eek out two close but clear decisions over the old boy. Didn’t surprise me one bit at the time, for me Hopkins had looked **** for years even before Taylor got to him, I make his last performance when he looked good being 2003 against Joppy.

So I agree with Amsterdam, I see Calzaghe totally dominating Hopkins and possibly even forcing the stoppage if he has him in trouble, although it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Hopkins puts him on the seat of his ass during one of Joe's characteristically reckless moments with a well-timed crisp right hand straight down the pipe.

A win is a win...yeah, that's true. But let's gauge what wins mean...

Did Marciano beat Joe Louis? Sure did. But, how much credit would you give him for that versus if he had beaten a prime JL?

Hopkins is by no means shot, and in fact, I still pick him to beat JC. However, Hopkins is the underdog, and is EXPECTED by most to lose to JC.

All that JC beating Hopkins means is, that he beat a GREAT 43 year old fighter. It's certainly legitimate and deserves respect, but don't make it out like him beating this Hopkins is the same as beating the Hopkins of 35 or even 38...it's not the same.

Besides, the Calzaghe fans have made it a point to say "Hopkins only throws one punch at a time now" and all sorts of other comments alluding to the change in his style due to his advanced age...so what's the big deal? When you're the favorite, you're SUPPOSED TO WIN!
