Larry Holmes v Tommy Burns

This is as near to a sure thing as you can get between two fighters of this calibre.

Burns just doesn’t have anything to answer Holmes’s advantages.

It is alright to pick a smaller fighter over a bigger one in some situations, but they have to have some sort of equaliser such as being an all time finisher.

Tommy Burns was an awsome finisher and it was enough against limited bigger heavyweights, but against somebody like Holmes he will not have a suficient equaliser.

 

What sort of sadistic matchmaker would do that to Tommy?

 

Holmes annihilates Burns. A mismatch of epic proportions.

 

The fact that he was the champion, means that in theory he would have had to take on any contender who emerged.

That sort of puts his feat of winning the title into perspective.

 

I wouldn't even let Burns in the same ring with Greg Page, let alone Larry Homes.

 

Laugh all you want, but if Holmse had been a contender when Burns was champion, you could have paid Burns enough to take the fight.

 

I get the feeling Burns would've fought a tiger for enough money.
