The Ring itself rated Stevens top 10 going in to the GGG fight.

Bottom line, this is awesome news regardless. It's a simple fan vote so nobody really gets screwed, and the fans have spoken. HBO pays attention to things like this, and that, combined with GGG's great ratings, makes it that much easier for them to give GGG more financial backing to land bigger fights.

The official award will almost certainly go to Mayweather.

It makes sense because it were people who voted, but if Ring picks him as the fighter of the year (which I doubt) it will be undeserved. Anything but giving that award to Rigondeaux would be wrong in my opinion.

Bradley is a prefectly legitimate choice. Beating Marquez and Prov in the same year is fantastic. Beating Macklin, Ishida and a few other B to C level boxers is solid at best.

Prov was a #10 ranked lww and a 10-1 underdog or worse. Everyone predicted 120 108

Jmm does not have a single good win above 135, other than his nemesis who started at fly

So its not really fantastic, but I suppose less laughable than calling Dirrell sublime vs Froch

You seem awfully upset. "Marquez has no good win north of 135 other than KTFOing the P4P #1". Alright bro, I'm sold. Bradley's year was underwhelming for sure.

I do wonder though, why you ain't as critical and hyperbolic with Golovkin's opponents?

Not upset at all, it's a plain fact.

Cause I never said GGG had a fantastic year, nor a FOTY campaign.

What is a plain fact again? That Marquez has no good win at 147 other than..er..what was his name? And what was your point again?

That it's not a fantastic accomplishment beating a guy who's not really proven (or very good IMO) at welter. He can fight the **** out of Manny at any weight, but that's it for him above 135. Team Marquez didn't even wanna touch Bradley until they saw him take career altering punishment, or so they thought.

I genuinely have no idea what you are talking about or what your logic is about.

How about we have some of my "plain facts" (because the way you use the word 'fact' is more than a stretch)

    1. Marquez beat Pac, arguably even twice, but for argument's sake I'll leave it at one win at WW
    2. That is an incredibly good win for his resume
    3. That would be an incredibly good win for anybody's resume
    4. Having Pac on your resume basically guarantees you fighter of the year
    5. Having a style advantage over Pac should not be held against Marquez in order to discredit his win (what stupid logic is that anyway?)
    6. Marquez not having a noteworthy win at 147 is not a "plain fact", it's flat out wrong. It doesn't get much better than Pac.
    7. Marquez not being a good WW is absurd given that he be the second best or arguably best WW around.
    8. Using the fact that Bradley beat Marquez comfortably as evidence that JMM is no good at WW is dumb. Bradley is a terrific boxer and appeared to have a stylistic advantage. Marquez didn't lose because he is a poor 147er but because Bradley could deal with him. The way Marquez dealt with Pac because of how incompatible Pac's style was with Marquez's. You didn't hesitate to use JMM's style advantage against him, whereas you dismiss any style clashes in the JMM vs Bradley fight and attribute JMM's poor performance to him not being a high profile WW win.

Get the fuck out of here, seriously.

funny how when macklin fought sturm & martinez tough he's an A level fighter and when golovkin beats him easily he turned into a B or C.

    also ishida beat kirkland easily.

curtis stevens beat darnell boone easily as the latter had knocked out adonis stevenson & narrowly lost to kovalev. all that at light heavy.

rosado gave kid chocolate all he wanted and arguably was going to win the fight until the cut that golovkin had given him was reopened.

but yeah, triple g fought total bums. :)

I'm not using Bradley to show JMM is not that great at welter, that's my opinion based on his performances vs much smaller, weaker guys at 135. Fact is, his sole good win above 135 is over a guy that started lower than him, which you reinforce by having Pac in just about every one of your points.
