Top 5 at least. Arguably the best ever imo.

Anyone know what the stats say? He has to have one of the lowest connect % against him in history right?

 

To all those who think Floyd is top 5:

The ATGs I named all proved their defensive abilities against other defensive masters. Floyd has only fought one defensive master in Juan M. Marquez, and in that fight Floyd (the bigger man) inexplicably fought on the back foot, forcing Marquez to be the aggressor for 12 rounds.

Floyd looks great against slow plodders. Put him in the ring with Erislandy Lara and we'll see who the defensive master is.

 

He also fought a good defensive fighter in Augusta and he didn't do we well. But his defense is the best, you can't hit something that doesn't want to fight you.

 

James toney is better on the d and offense

KFC has good defense tho

 

Toney's defense and chin held up amazingly well at CW & HW.

He is very close to the No.1 spot.

What makes your defence better is when you use it for offence like Pernell and Toney did.

the older i have got and the more i have appreciated boxing rather than fighting,the more and more i have appreciated Mayweather...we are lucky to be a witness to this Mayweather era IMO

Great defense. In my opinion better than most of the guys (if not everybody) mentioned in the thread. However, Rigondeaux' defense is better than his. Also, there are/were a couple of Cubans with unbelievable defensive abilities although they are all known for their extremely good defense throughout the history. Anyway, in my opinion, Floyd's defense is better than those of the old-timers mentioned in the thread. From the recent fighters, Pernell Whitaker was really good, but not as good as Floyd in my opinion.
