Lewis or Vitali, who is higher ATG?

Lewis's resume is far superior to Vitali's. He beat Bruno, Ruddock, Morrison, Tyson and was robbed against Holyfield. Holyfield and Tyson's resumes are both better than Vitali's.

Holyfield beat Foreman, who would later become the oldest HW champion ever. He also beat Tyson.

Tyson beat two ATGs in Holmes (albeit an old version of him) and Spinks.

 

I didn't say Lewis was offering advice out of charity. I said if he want to offer advice to younger fighters and they wanted to listen then he is fully within his rights to do so and it doesn't have to have anything to do with the Klitschkos or bitter feeling about some unfulfilly aspect of his own career. Your jumping to conclusions. And he hasn't been in the corner of every Klitschko opponent.

And again Lewis talked alot of bull**** and was wrong about a lot of things. He didn't fancy a Vitali rematch so retired when it was unavoidable. The comment about his mother telling him to retire is taken out of context. It was a jokey comment after he had retired and was not meant to be taken litterally - just like his comment last year about coming out of retirement $100million.

Easy to say in hindsight but he was clear favorite at the time and expected to beat Lewis and Holyfield or Bowe. He was totally relevent, the fight was clearly meaningful and nobody destroyed Ruddock in the way Lewis did before or after that fight.

Briggs was Lineal Champion. Whether he was a great fighter or not the fight was meaningful for that if nothing else.

Yeah, he miraculously went from being considered the 3rd best fighter across all divisions to shot to **** overnight. Amazing how that works. And he didn't start losing to "absoulte bums" until five year later - that's a long time in boxing.

if Lewis beat Wlad as well, they'd still say Wlad would win and is better than Lewis.

Lewis never ducked anyone. Lewis was the most fearless Heavyweight in history.

fights that never happened were down to better fighters being around, so he took them on instead.

Vitali couldn't even get in the ring with David Haye for crying out loud. he ducked that one, even after telling Haye he needed to beat Chisora first (which he did) but still avoided it. he instead fought a nobody bum in Charr.

if Lewis had lost the fight, it would have been down to the simple notion of him being past his best. which he was. he looked shot out there. but he still beat Vitali, proving just how great Lewis actually was.

 

Lewis was his best a year before, and supposedly like fine wine getting better with age. Maybe, just maybe it was what Vitali DID and not what Lewis didn't that made the fight so competitive.

Why is this possibility so completely beyond consideration for some people, especially given the fact Vitali has kicked the arse of everyone else he has faced? (Byrd was also getting beaten before a shoulder injury so don't bring up that tired old bull****)

Vitali was better than Lewis and is one of the most underrated fighters ever.

Without that cut Klitshko was winning.

Vitali's retirement against Byrd was due to a shoulder injury and he was easily winning that fight. Shoulder injurys are a very serious business as demonstrated recently by Haye's problems.

So Vitali has technically suffered two defeats but has never really been 'beaten'. Also he has never even been put on the canvas in his whole carrer. Pretty amazing.

Vitali could have been unified champion by beating Wlad who is weaker, but who can blame someone for not fighting their own brother, I certainly wouldnt. Finally he continued to beat all challengers into his 40s and only retired so he could run for president, the guy's a legend.
