hes clearly using the hand after the fight.
but I don't know, the broken hand story seems to come up everytime hes embarrassed by an opponent or wasn't feeling brave enough to face an opponent who seemed a risk.

if your hands were that bad, you wouldn't be boxing.

well no one said he was a BUM. if someone said that they should apologise. He was a minor contender at LMW and MW.

its just you saying he was a MW, when he was a majority LMW.

either way you cant accept that picking a LMW contender who went up to MW, to defend a SMW world title against isn't powderpuff, just because its a Joe calzaghe defence.

he was slapping people when he was 20 years old so hold off with the broken hand ****.

Great fighter but nowhere near a ATG deal with it

I'm not bigging up Ashira, he was a warm up for Lacy because Calzaghe had been side lined for a while and he was a top 15 middle weight contender not a light middle weight bum and you could see Calzaghe was fighting with one hand and they showed on the coverage the state of his hand after wards. He was originaly meant to fight Lacy 2 months after this that was post poned due to this injury.

Yes Calzaghe had hand problems, so do lots of fighters, just look at Mayweather, difference is he has come through it against a massively superior level of opposition.

And no, Ashira didn't fight Eastman twice, he fought him the once like I said. Ashira was a very poor opponent just like Sobot, Ferreyra, Thornberry, Veit, McIntyre, Jimenez, Pudwill, Salem and Mkrtchyan were. Even guys like Reid, Woodhall, Brewer and Sheika are nothing of note.

Calzaghe's WBO run was against very poor to average opposition and beyond that he then has two good wins against Lacy and Bika and one significant win over Kessler. Then there's a very debatable SD against 43 year-old Hopkins.

it was not just a warm up, it was a classed as a title defence. what kind of joke title does that - national? intercontinental?

    Nice troll thread.

Calzaghe isn't even the greatest Welsh fighter. Welsh, Driscoll and Wilde are all greater Welshmen. Calzaghe isn't even a top ten uk great imo. Anybody who thinks Calzaghe is the greatest British fighter has the boxing knowledge of a 'The Sun' reader.

It's obvious that a lot of these people haven't even followed the whole of Calzaghe's career and most probably just jumped on the bandwagon after the Lacy fight.

It says a lot when people say Sheika was a "top American" that Calzaghe beat, no he wasn't. He was at best a fringe contender, although he hadn't even fought at USBA level at that point in is career (in a weak division I might add) and went into the Calzaghe fight off the back of a total robbery against Glen Johnson in fight where he got schooled.

As rossco points out, it sums up the Sun reading mentality of most of Calzaghe's hardcore fan base, Frank W billed Sheika as a top American and these idiots just lap it up.

    froch was WBC mandatory.

This enabled Froch to get a decent and fair 40% of the purse bid, which sky tabled for £2m.

But ****** offered 100k and then joe told ****** he didnt want the fight, too risky. So vacated later the same day.
