I think Barao by a clear, one-sided decision. So much of Cruz's game is built on his unorthodox rhythm and timing. He was able to close the distance and land while completely throwing off his opponents rhythm, all with footwork. The problem with his style is, if his timing is even a little off, a world class opponent will be able to take advantage. All the time he has spent out of the ring would almost certainly mean his timing will be off. But then on top of that you add the rehab from the injury...no way he looks the same.
Agree, Barao is an overwhelming favourite in this fight, not just because of the layoff but also the ease he (Baroa) handled Faber. Faber and Cruz have went life and death twice and Cruz's wrestling ability shone through and he managed to squeeze out the extra points for the decisions. Faber actually took the stand up in all 3 fights (well 2 and a third I suppose) and hurt Cruz on several occasions. Faber himself is a decorated and very capable wrestler; he couldn't get anywhere near Barao, if Cruz beats Barao it will be one of the most significant wins an MMA fighter has managed in a decade, this would be up there with Ray Leonard beating Hagler IMHO. I'm stating boldly Barao will beat Cruz with relative ease. Cruz has to wrestle, wrestle, wrestle and take Baroa's heart, take his cardio! If Cruz cannot secure a TD in the first round he's not going to win the fight IMO.
