Would be interested to hear your thoughts on him, he is in against my local lad Tony Conquest on 15th Feb for the Commonwealth title. Only going by his record on Boxrec, seems to go the distance in most fights, I must confess, I've never seen Daniel, so any replies appriciated.
Honestly thought he could've put a flattering adornment on his resume by exploiting the ill-advised move up by Cleverly. He nearly hit the lottery there only to see his ticket snatched away. Sucks. He will never get any realistic opportunity to bag that big an international name. Good honest fight but domestic-level.
Having watched many of Conquest's recent televised fights on BoxNation & the 1 fight vs Camacho on Sky too, as well most of Ammann's fights i would be shocked if Conquest doesnt dominate Dan Ammann & win a almost shutout.
I havnt been the biggest fan of Ammann's in the past but he has prob been our most consistant cruiserweight in the last decade (bar green) He fights with a lot of heart and his southpaw style can prove awkward for some fighters (Shane Cameron fight), one thing I am sure is Ammann will give Conquest a tough fight.. Goodluck !
Daniel Ammann will be the first Aussie to bring back The Commonwealth Title. He will be to good & to experienced for Tony.
I was about to say "Lucas Browne??" - didn't realize his bid was scheduled for so far out. April? :huh He fought altogether five times in 2013. Quite a drop off to spend that long on the shelf. When he kayoed Towers it had originally sounded like Price vs. Browne would be underway in a jiffy, by like this month or next. Oh well, I guess you're right. Danny's shot will come first.
Such a shame he hasn't recieved more media attention, just shows how low boxing has sunk in Australia
Ammann has a long consistent career. Experienced many different styles. Awkward capable 12 round fighter is the best way to describe him really. Never seems to KO or rattle many opponents. Seems to bottom out outside of domestic level opposition, especially with power punchers taking his chin out. but I can see him snatch a Commonwealth title if the opponent is right. I was favouring Cleverly tbh but it was great to see The Doberman stepping up once again, his name is so underated in Australian boxing. An example of a quiet achiever I suppose. Good bloke as well
