OK - dumb thread, but just a bit of fun to lighten things up on the board a little, and a distraction from the serious issues at hand! Who you got in this fight? Wilder still unproven as a boxer, but with KO power Valuev big and awkward, but never KO'd Wilder would be giving up his reach advantage for the first time ever, but Valuev struggled with significantly smaller men,, including 2 former cruisers. Hard to bet against Valuev, but you never know with Wilder
Wilder is too unproven to be favoured in this match up, this would be a big step up compared to the opposition he has faced so far.
Amazing fight, Valuev wasn't ever close to being stopped...This fight will be an amazing first WBA title defense, the WBA rate their former Champion high anyways
At this stage is Wilder's career its extremely hard to picture how he'd do against any former champion because he hasn't been tested yet. But I will say this about Wilder I too think he does have the potential to be a major bust like many people expect but I also think he may potentially end up being an excellent big man and the future of the division. To me he looks to be getting gradually better and he has the physical tools to be a force. Remember Lennox Lewis early on in his career was highly doubted and he turned out to be one of the best heavyweights of all time and arguably the best of his time. Wilder hasn't come close to being tested yet so will know what he is truly capable of when the day comes and it should be coming soon.
I think one of the reasons this fight is *semi* intriguing to me, is that Valuev, for all his size advantages, never seemed to be the most aggressive heavyweight out there - so theoretically Deontay would be the one looking to bring the fight (as his only real chance in my opinion would be to look for the KO). Likelihood in that scenario is that Valuev at some point counters him and maybe gets him out of there, but as I said before, with Wilder you just never know!
Same here I feel the test will come & he will become the GOAT of heavyweight or just a guy who can punch, no compromise, no Middle ground Undisputed Heavyweight Champion 34-0 (KO 34) is my idea of GOAT of the heavyweight division
He's certainly an interesting character - he's either gonna knock his opponent out, or (if the old videos from the am's are anything to go by) get knocked out when he steps up. It's so hard to predict any theoretical matchup outcome for these reasons. Either way, these elements make for excitement, and drama - something that many people feel the heavyweight division has been bereft of in recent years.
At first I voted Valuev by KO because I'd do that in any poll involving him. Then I realized he has a very real chance of KOing Wilder.
Valuev is a real time caveman and he is also part Ape. Valuev has a head the size of mars. Valuev would be Wilder by KO by headbutt.
