If froid grew some cajones to face the hands of stone, he'll get ktfo. He is just a cherrypicking version of srl.
Respectfully, you are making equal assumptions. For one, you are assuming that the 'Duran of Montreal' is able to do what he did in that fight to Mayweather or anyone else. You ignore that Leonard was a 23 year old champ at the time the fight was signed with 20-something pro fights/2 title fights who admits he got somewhat suckered into a flat-footed fight due to his ego, Duran's taunts, and his desire to prove he wasn't just a pretty boy. The ATG Leonard that people remember was not necessarily the one who entered the ring that night. On the other hand, Mayweather at WW would enter that fighta as a multi-division champion in his late 20s with almost 40 pro fights. A guy with a proven Ring IQ, tight defense, great foot speed, and incredible stamina. Hes a guy who stabs the body repeatedly and frustrates overly aggressive types. In other words, a guy who fights in almost exactly the same style that we later saw make Duran quit. While Mayweather might lose, IMO it's safe to say he wouldn't let the 'Duran of Montreal's prefight macho bullisht get under his skin nor affect his strategy during the fight, something that the young Leonard acknowledged happen to him. Just a thought.
The thread is about the Duran from the first Leonard fight. Comparisons only make sense if the best versions fight each other. Otherwise,I agree Mayweather has a shot at winning.
When would Floyde ever ever get in the ring with Hearns and Hagler. Also Hagler won the last two rounds in a 15 round fight to just edge it. Jees you *****'s .
What are you talking about? -Duran avenged the DeJesus fight twice over with knockouts. -Duran ran into his limitations against Hearns, he gave up too much size, too much youth, too much speed, and way too much power against. The margin of error was too slim and he paid for a single misstep. Duran made no excuses. He would go on to beat Barkley who destroyed Hearns. -Hagler might be the GOAT MW Champion, he was a 4-1 favorite, and Duran nearly edged him. Hagler was the one making excuses after getting busted up and nearly losing to an older LW believed to be on his last legs. Mayweather has not even stepped into the ring against a MW. Duran beat a high quality one and took the most feared one in history to the limit. You should probably tread more carefully here, you are getting abused in this thread.
Duran also had great stamina and ring IQ. He was stronger than Floyd, hit much harder and betters him in nearly every dept. Duran is the GOAT at faints ( Floyd has trouble with faints). Duran is a highly skilled pressure fighter with a great defence. He could switch from offence to defence/defence to offence with a speed and fluidity never seen by another fighter we have extensive footage of. I get the impression you seem to think Duran was some flat footed brawler. He was actually highly mobile and had freak herky jerky reflexes that made him so awkward to box against. In his prime he just WOULD be able to impose his will on Mayweather. Pimp C, you come across as a blinded ***** that hasn't watched much prime Duran. Your having a laugh :rofl Mayweather should never have won against JLC and he scraped past a past it ODH. Duran is a far more skilled and mobile pressure fighter than those two and he's a far smarter fighter than them put together. Duran is all wrong for Mayweather. He's just too dynamic.
Anyone who picks Floyd is automatically telling you that they need to go in the ignore list because they know nothing about boxing. There is absolutely no way the Duran of Montreal loses to any version of Mayweather.
Exactly. Watch JLC 1 and 2, the Cotto fight and the DLH fight. There is no way Floyd even makes it 12 against the beasting Duran of Montreal. He has everything to trouble Mayweather and would destroy him. The body work, the feints, the jab, the punch variety, the unlimited stamina, the iron chin.... We have true idiots on here.
Does anyone on here truly think that PBF does not wind up on the ropes, back pinned and getting an education on infighting form Roberto Duran ? Duran was an expert at cutting off a ring and turning it into a phone booth. And in a phone booth, there can only be one winner, that`s Duran. If Castillo gave PBF problems (actually beat him first time)... Castillo wouldn`t be a good sparring partner for Duran back in the day. To be honest at 135 this isn`t even worthy of conversation. Duran would smile and sneer at PBF`s shots, and pitiful attempts to try and hold and smother Duran. He would have no way of getting Duran`s respect, Duran walks him down, pummels the body, drills him downstairs just to send a message, and stops him in rd 13... And at the weigh in, just for fun. Duran lays out loudmouth Ellerbe just to show that Duran is Duran !! Can`t you all imagine PBF soiling his shorts in the presence of Duranimal !!
One more thing... While PBF`s skills might be overstated. Duran`s defensive slickness, multiple feints, jab and head movement are way UNDERRATED... he hd tons of ring savvy and that comes from fighting the best,consistently...
Mayweather retires before the fight takes place, goes up or down a weight division, states his health is more important or claims Duran wont sell and takes a fight against a lesser known guy.
Agreed. However, I do feel Mayweather will go the distance as he is a great defensive fighter.Mayweather would not engage much and fight in spots. Duran by UD
