This is comparing the guy who scraped past Valuev and stank the place out against Klitschko to a guy who beat Ali. Case closed.
Frazier's defence is way too leaky not to get knocked out by Tyson and I could see it happening as early as the first.
Ruddock knocked Tysons gumshield flying and damaged Tysons ribs and eardrum. To this day, i dont think anybody ever injured Tyson like that. Ruddock was nothing by the time he fought Morrison, hed alraedy been knocked out Twice and beaten pillar to post for 19 rounds from Tyson. He was also coming off a long layoff
Elroy, By the way, Elroy. I pick Tyson over Frazier. And by knockout. (You could have checked my vote on this poll if you were smart enough to do so) Opining that Tyson could beat Frazier (an opinion I agree with so long as he got to him early enough.... I would pick Frazier if it got past 6 rounds) is not why I called you out. It is the rest of your idiotic ramblings that take things too far. Again. I would say you are very much in the minority in thinking that Ruddock or chicken**** David Haye would "Destroy" Frazier. Your threads are clearly argumentative for the sake of argument. Your posts offer almost no insight that would lead one to believe you know anything about boxing. Posts like yours in the classic section are beginning to make this boxing forum unbearable.
He suffers from a compulsion to focus the spotlight upon himself,an arrogant ,immature, offensive twerp, best ignored.
On the ten point must system, Bonavena vs Frazier 1 came out to be a draw when I scored it. But I hear ya. Tyson gets Frazier out of there inside 5 rounds. Bad match up for Frazier. Similar to Foreman, Frazier isn't beating more durable guys who hit as hard or in this case harder than him.
I can't imagine Frazier beating Tyson with both being at their best. Tyson was like a better version of Frazier...Faster, threw great combinations, had a great jab going in and with amazing power in both hands, bigger and also great head movement (as did Frazier)...Yeah I just don't see it, plus I think Tyson could take anything Frazier hit him with better than the other way around..Frazier could possibly beat Tyson if he wore him down through the rounds but I don't see that happening with Tyson at his best.
I really have no problem with anyone picking Tyson in this thread (except for elroy and foxy, and their newer must be better logic), even though I disagree. But I keep hearing this theme of Tyson being a better version of Frazier...once again even though I disagree about who is better :smoke ! But their styles really are not even close to similar outside of perhaps the bob and weave that they utilized. To me their styles are not really close enough to call a similar version?
It`s great watching you enable yourself !! Now that`s very impressive. It`s like,` watch me pat myself on my own back ` Or excuse me while I toot my own horn... You truly are special...
Ah, fair enough I think a lot of the comparisons come from the bobbing and they both move forward but I was also thinking shorter and inside fighters but yeah ultimately I agree with you when it comes to how they boxed altogether, it was different. I think all the advantages I pointed out though for Tyson between them would be the factor and all those factors would be very important in this particular matchup. I just see this as a bad matchup for Frazier. I think he'd do better with a lot of other fighters including Holyfield (that would be a fantastic matchup I think) but against a ferocious puncher with power in both hands, incredible speed and both being fighters that move forward..yeah you don't want to fight Tyson like that, it's a perfect type of fighter for him to eat up and destroy. I think to beat Tyson you have to wear him down with jabs from the outside (which ultimately means have longer arms than Tyson as well, ha ha), not let him get in as much or perhaps hang all over him all night (Which would be the thing to do if you were a bigger fighter like Wlad besides staying outside and keeping your jab going). An inside forward moving fighter though like Frazier that is close to the same height as Tyson is just not a good match for Tyson in my opinion. Styles make fights and both were great fighters I just don't see Frazier winning this one with his and Tyson's fighting style. This of course I'm thinking with both at their best; the 90's Tyson could lose because he lacked the great defense that he had and just took a lot of shots that would of never happened when he was at his best in the 80's. Tyson also didn't put together combinations in the 90's either the same way which was really what ulimately made him so deadly (instead of trying for the one punch KO which he did a lot after Douglas).
I agree with you that Tyson had a solid chin I dispute your assertion that Frazier was in his prime against Bonavena though. It was his 11th professional fight. They did fight later in Frazier`s actual prime 1968 and I don`t recall Joe`s chin being dented much at all. Jerry Quarry was a better puncher than Bonavena. Anyway it is a bad matchup for Joe Frazier.
