That's a strong post my friend!

I was actually a big Hatton fan but it's hard not to argue with what you've said although I might not have worded it quite the same. Hatton was not the best fighter of his era but did so much to raise the profile of the sport in the UK - beyond even what Naz managed!

He admits now himself that his career was cut short by his lifestyle but his boxing style was also not suited to many years of fighting unlike PBF and Pac who actually take some backward steps!!

Personally I'l always struggle to forgive Hatton for allowing me and my dad to spend good money travelling to Vegas to watch him take on Pac only for him to fight like a bar-room drunk!

Still he had a go and reached for the stars. Goodness knows how much stick he'd have come in for if he hadn't taken those fights!!...

To be fair, I am sure he didn't intend for that to happen... not like he didn't do his best.

i dont miss Hatton fights at all....i thought he was involved in some average fights with average fighters that set up the world title chances ,but he was never at that level(no shame in that) but he had the football fans onside so he could pack out the arenas with a load of bevvied up blokes chanting 'ONLY 1 RICKY HATTON' all night long....was incredibly well managed IMO ,there will be a lot lot better boxers than Hatton that wont generate the cash he did..

Tszyu, Maussa, Collazo, Urango, Castillo, Lazcano, Malignaggi were all world class when he beat them and 5 of them were world champions going into the bout so he was not found out at world level just by two p4p greats.

The guy fought 10 world champions in a row, let me know when big mouth "warrior" Carl Froch does that.

Not especially because I think boxing is still exciting and enjoyable now so there's no reason to miss anything. I was always a fan of Ricky so I do have fond memories of Hatton's fights. Yeah he hugged too much sometimes and some of his fights were a bit boring but that's true for most fighters and most of his fights were highly entertaining brawls. The sense of excitement and the atmosphere he generated was fantastic.

Hatton was way better than Froch, better skills , better defence , the only thing Carl has is a freakish chin.

Hasnt fought three all time greats and come out 1 - 2.

To be fair Hatton did well, he has a better defence but then again that aint saying much when compared to carl

I'm no Hatton hater, I like him. At least he fought the best.

Amen...........plus maliniaggi got better over the years so i would not say he was world class when Hatton fought him and tszyu had 1 fight in 2 years before Hatton beat him...
and dont forget Hattons last fight ?Brook made light work of him

Kinda agree but Froch has more than just a chin.

He's got excellent offence, especially when his opponent is on the ropes. I'd say he's the most dangerous fighter in the world in that position. He's also got phenomenal stamina, he just keeps going and going and going.
