No IB Bute's never been a constant body-puncher. He used few and good ones. It was surprising for his opponent, the rapidity and the force those body punches had. The jabs to the body were more often thrown than the power punches. He used to use 3 punch combinations, then he turned himself into a one punch KO artist loading and waiting for the one big punch. So he became a one punch fighter.
The jab was good, but followed by nothing. And worst of all Bute got nothing on the inside, at very short range. He just puts his hands up and hopes to grab or step out of harms way. He couldn't trow when he was simply walking towards Pasal and his opponent didn't do nothing to stop him, how could he ever trow up close when Pascal was punching wild, and were his counter-punching options were bigger.
He's done. Could have been better, but he gave the right to ppl to say he was a fraud.

Called it before the interview.....somewhat

Although Bute is genuinely shot, it didn't look like either guy was really looking to turn it into a war. Both guys were holding something back.

No, Ward is great on the inside, at very close range. Bute got nothing there. Also was is quick to pus the trigger Bute is the most gun shy fighter I ever seen. I think Bute is done. I will still root for him, but my hopes gone the the trash bin.

At the end Pascal gassed out, and Bute couldn't finish him.
It shows Pascal has huge flaws that a good fighter would take advantage of, but Bute is shot and couldn't. Pascal is also not the fighter he was 2 years ago.

Ward would not be able to get inside on a quick fighter like Bute. Ward has beaten mostly straight ahead fighters and the styles would make this one interesting. Ward also has little power to trouble Bute, far less than Pascal. It would be a good first fight for Ward at LHW.

If you remember, Bute did the same **** against Glen Johnson : Closed the distance, in range to throw, and just feinted for 2 and a half fvcking minutes of every round. It wasn't just the Froch fight that ruined him.

He doesn't perform well on the front foot.

I had Pascal winning this fight easily, 8-3-1 rounds, 117-112 points, scoring the 1st round even, and giving Bute rounds 3, 11, and 12. Pascal won rounds 2, 4, 5 only with flurries in the final 30 seconds, but he easily won rounds 6 through 10 with flurries of combinations between spells of inactivity. Bute won round 3 by default, and he won rounds 11-12 because Pascal lured him in by playing possum, and then didn't respond with enough offense of his own. Bute looked AWFUL throughout, he looked tentative and scared, like he didn't want to engage, even though Pascal isn't THAT big a power puncher. He landed an occasional jab, an occasional left, but that was it until Pascal played possum late. I guess you could say Bute did win the "ring generalship" battle, as he obviously got to fight his preferred cautious fight while keeping his distance. But whenever Pascal DID engage, as Jim Watt said, Bute panicked and turtled. Clearly Bute remains scarred from Froch, in which case he needed a new trainer to get him over that. That said, Pascal's tactics were poor, clearly he had every opportunity to use his superior speed and power to overwhelm Bute at almost any time, but he chose to fight cautiously, only flurrying when he had to in order to win rounds. Maybe he was carrying Bute in hopes of an easy money rematch, who knows. That in fact might be their best option, if Canadians are stupid enough to pay for it. Clearly Kovalev/Stevenson would easily beat either of Pascal or Bute.

This reminded me of Pascal-Dawson somewhat.
-Pascal fights well and outfights a gunshy opponent that is a better technical boxer

-Opponents don't let hands go, partly because of subpar punch resistance

-Jean finishes the fights terribly. Dawson nearly caught him at the end, too

Dawson had more in the tank than Bute. Pascal was also better in that fight than tonight, too.

the last time I saw a fighter that scared to fight was seldon against Tyson .. I've never seen someone so scared to engage .. and bute USED to be an offensive first fighter
he's absolutely ruined and needs to get out while he still can

Adonis Stevenson knocked the common sense out of him. How on God's green earth could anyone score that fight for Bute? :patsch

He was tired, or maybe his shoulder gone. If it was the shoulder we will find out soon, cuz he will need recuperation. Might as well retire to. But I don't think so because he tried to give us another excuse, he wanted to take punches, because thats why he loves boxing. Give me a break, he was almost down on wobbly legs. His knees buckled towards the end.
I really think he was gassed as fu@#, but who knows. And I think I saw this 2-3 rounds early to, but Bute wasn't trowing anything.

    I agree.

Weird how in boxing/showbusiness the big money is usually made after you are no longer at your peak/best. Both Bute and Pascal have seen better days and should probably quit, but they won'$. Milking it for all it's worth seems to be the name of the game 95/100, and you can't blame them... they get paid for getting punched really hard in the face.

He was first to punch against Kessler. He will mess Bute's face just like he did with Kessler. And will mess him up with hooks from short range to.

bute should have jabbed his way in so he can land some left uppercuts to the body and to the head.
