Erislandy Lara, Ruslan Provodnikov (Who is Banner not Top Rank ) both come to mind as better opponents than Khan.

Broner fight is put on hold, so Maidana is back in the mix.
Lara is a very good option too.

Both are much better opponents as lww Khan

Where did you hear this? If true, maybe Maidana getting the Floyd fight after all?

That fight is happening later in the year since Maidana's girlfriend is having a baby so he still wouldn't be fighting Floyd

I read it here on this site :D
Doesn't mean it's true, but it was already brewing with the planned date being disputed.

Hard sell, floyd is about making money. His legacy is already secured. Provodnikov has done nothing of importance to deserve a fight with floyd mayweather. He beat Alvarado, when was beating Alvarado such a great win?

Although Khan has done nothing to deserve a shot at floyd. He is a bigger draw than anyone of the names you mentioned. This will be play an important factor in whoever mayweather chooses to fight.

Why would anyone want to watch Maidana vs Floyd? We have seen that SOOOOOOOOOOOO many times....

A flat footed fighter, coming straight ahead and eating straight hand rights from Floyd for 12 rounds. Seriously, this fight is pure garbage. Hes to damn slow to hit Mayweather with that overhand right and will get the living S*IT countered of him

Provodnikov lost to Bradley (Khan has beaten better guys) if your going to face 140 lb guy Garcia is the only guy that makes sense

Lara? for the belt that Floyd Already has? Molina has a title at 154 that Floyd has never held but he like Lara is not much of a draw.

Do any of these guys sell more PPV then Floyd vs Khan?

The only fight I see Floyd taking again at 154 would be a Cotto rematch other than that he will probably finish his deal at 147lbs.

By September there will be a guy that fans will draw to and say he should face Floyd like with Canelo and Mosley, but as for right now there does not seem to be that guy. Do any of you think he should just wait until September for a better opponent?

Ruslan made a brutal fight vs top5 consensus p4p fighter Bradley. He is a tough come forward action fighter. Easy to forget that SHo/TMT will have millions in the marketing of the fight plus the All Access and such.

After Ruslans 2013 performance, you have to say he is at least as well known as any other HBO/SHO boxer not names Floyd or Manny. And he would be the easiest to market as a legit threat to the general public. Plus going life and death with Bradley and beating Alvarado might not be exactly ATG level stuff by any means.... but its still a lot more than Khan has done recently.

Lara no point brings nothing to the table no title, not a draw, not coming off a big win. If he ever faces Canelo and wins then that is a fight that could be made in the future.

GGG for what and what weight if Canelo who is a draw had to come to 152 to face Floyd and had a title where would Floyd face GGG (Who has he beaten to deserve it?)

Bradley this fight makes the most sense he is undefeated and has a win over Pac and Marquez but unfortunately he is with Top Rank

Garcia does not want to move up yet and would be the easiest fight to make out of all the names up there but he seems like he is not ready to move up yet, probably wants to unify the belts at 140 first :bbb maybe next year?

There really is nothing out there Borner messed everything up by going for the rematch Miadana would be easy to sell (I don't think it would be that competitive though)

Lara would be a more interesting fight. Khan fight wont draw, unless its fought in UK. Even then it wont be because its Khan specifically, it will be just because the biggest name in boxing is fighting someone UK fans know of IN the UK. So if the fight is in UK somewhere and not Vegas, then yeah Khan makes sense.

Outside of bringing the Mayweather name to foreign boxing market, which would generate tons of local news on its own - whoever Floyd fights he is going to have to promote and market the fight quite heavily to do decent numbers.

Would be an awful lot easier to use the recent performances of Lara, Ruslan, Maidana, etc to market a fight than the recent performances of Khan. Khan is known in boxing circles because he used to be a top prospect, but hes not exactly a name that will get US casual fans clicking "buy" at $75 a pop.
