Despite the fact that Floyd being injured I had him winning the first 5 rounds (maybe 6). JLC came on strong but PBF had put to many rounds in the bank. To many fans remember how a fight ends not how it begins and they also do not score round by round and think of the fight as a whole. For example Timbo v Prov . . . Bradley won more rounds but Prov did more damage. Mayweather did the right thing and gave him a rematch and made sure that there was no controversy the second time around.
My scorecard, back when I watched it: 1. Mayweather 10-9 2. Mayweather 10-9 3. Mayweather 10-9 4. Mayweather 10-9 5. Castillo 10-9 6. Castillo 10-9 7. Castillo 10-9 (Castillo's most dominant round so far.) 8. Mayweather 10-8 (Castillo is deducted a point for hitting on the break.) 9. Castillo 10-9 10. Even 9-9 (Mayweather deducted a point for the elbow.) 11. Castillo 10-9 12. Castillo 10-9 Next time I watch it I'll see if I change my mind on any of those rounds. I'm still not completely certain about the whole 9-9 business in round 10, as some people claim that it's impossible to have that score for a round due to the ten point must system, while I've seen others say that it can happen when a point is deducted from the fighter who wins the round. It would be good if someone could clear this up for me with an official source on the matter. Anyway, I thought the fight was very close. It could have easily been a draw, or I could see either guy winning by a point or two. Castillo did most of his work to the body, roughing Mayweather up on the inside, while I remember Mayweather doing well with his jab. Castillo did a good job at cutting off the ring, keeping his defence up when coming in to attack, and using his size and strength on the inside.
7-5, decision win for young, injured Mayweather whose IQ, and skills improved a lot after that fight.
i think people genuinly think that but because they only watched it once and got swept up in the moment of mayweather for once in his career looking like he was really bothered i had the same effect on me when i watched the cotto fight.. i actually had mayweather winning against cotto by only 2 rounds when i watched it live.. watched it back and only gave cotto 3 rounds max... i forget my score for the castillo fight but i had floyd winning a very close fight
he hurt his shoulder not his hand bro i think your confusing the castillo fight with carlos hernandez fight where he broke his hand and took a knee as a result of it (round 6)
Castillo easy. Castillo was the champ on the night. He worked the body well. He bossed the fight. He threw more and landed more punches. Simple as that. The blueprint is.right there. Floyds first ever loss.
1. May 2. May 3. May 4. May 5. May 6. Cas 7. Cas 8. Even, but point taken from Cas 9. Cas 10. Cas - 2 point round 11. Cas 12. Cas 114-113 Castillo
Most people bring up this fight because they feel it was scored incorrectly in favor of FLoyd. The second one was scored correctly! No controversy, no arguments!
7-5 Castillo. Floyd got an early lead, but started fighting Castillo's fight. Close fight thru out, tho Castillo being busier also landed clean shots of his own tho not as much since he focused on Floyds torso. Such a good fight and underrated IMO. Floyd had alot more respect for the veteran Castillo in the rematch.
Floyd 115-111. Lederman scores aggression no matter how effective. Mayweather would dominate for 2:30 and then Castillo would land a partially blocked punch and Lederman would give him a round. Clear Mayweather win..
I have watched the fight several times. Floyd did exactly what I said and having Cortez clearly helped him, not Castillo. It still wasn't exactly easy work for Floyd even then but he won clearly the second time around, and for the record, I think he would have won with or without Cortez as the ref. His gameplan, while it pretty much ceded that he wasn't going to stop Castillo, was good for winning on points. But Cortez's quick breaks(and in some cases unwarranted breaks), clearly helped Floyd.
